MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police Department’s cold cases are heating up thanks to its new Cold Case Review Team.

A group of 20 retired law enforcement officers joined forces to help the Myrtle Beach Police Department track down new leads in cold cases.

James O’Brian is a volunteer and brings more than 30 years of experience to the table. He said the team is here to help lighten the heavy workload on detectives.

“Sometimes these guys down here get overwhelmed with cases, and they put them aside for the next one and that’s how they get cold. We just look through it and see if we can find something,” said O’Brian.

Robert Fratta, 65, received a lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville for the November 1994 fatal shooting of his wife, Farah. He was prounounced dead at 7:49 p.m.

Prosecutors say Robert Fratta organized the murder-for-hire plot in which a middleman, Joseph Prystash, hired the shooter, Howard Guidry. Farah Fratta, 33, was shot twice in the head in her home's garage in the Houston suburb of Atascocita."

A child’s remains were found on Jan. 17 in rural Grady County near Rush Springs, but they have not confirmed that they are those of Athena.

Although they have not yet announced whose remains, they found (because of the gag order?) They must know it’s Athena as the whole town is preparing for her funeral. According to Brownfield's obituary, states Sen. Roger Thompson will officiate the funeral service.
