Britney Spears Caught Driving With Child in Lap - MERGED

"out of harm's way"???....it's not like the paparazzi was shooting at the vehicle & she needed to shield her son from gunfire...good grief..what a lame excuse for not having that baby in a carseat....
Hi Close..the reality is she put the baby IN harm's way.

It's obvious she WAS driving. Why would she issue statements? She would be innocent. Why give the papparazi anymore to work with. She should keep her child home with the hired help to watch him if she wants to run around. Plus isn't she pregnant again? Danger Britney you idiot. She should have let her bodyguard drive and keep her butt in the back with the child. That freeway is nuts. So is Britney!!!

I am certainly not condoning what Spears did nor am I claiming she isn't an idiot. However, I firmly believe the paparazzi are out of control (not all of them but a significant amount) and I can see where a celebrity would be frightened, especially if they were with their children. Yes, a celebrity wanted to be famous, but that doesn't mean they deserve to have these photographers hiding in their trees and bushes trying to snap their next shot to sell to the tabloids.

Have any of you ever witnessed how crazed some of these photographers become? I was working one event a couple of years ago with a celeb of the moment. I was escorting her from an event and thank god she had security with her. We were practically pulled out of the limo and they kept screaming at her to look at them. Some of these people called her crude names if they didn't get the shot they wanted. By the time her security got us into the hotel lobby, I had been poked in the eye and she and I both were on the verge of anxiety attacks. Another time, I was by my apartment in NYC and watched Jennifer Lopez leaving David Letterman. The paparazzi LITERALLY chased her car down the street banging on the windows of the SUV until the driver slammed on the breaks and her security crew got out of the vehicle.
I don't think anyone deserves to be treated like that.

She has drivers, assistants and such. She should know better with all her previous problems. You are right no one deserves it. ;)

What Brittany did was against the law and not very smart. No excuses. I do feel that the papparazi prob. did cause this! They are out of control and they should be fined every time they harass beyond just getting a casual pic. There is no excuse for them to be ganging up, crowding, yelling and stalking until a celeb. looses it or does something stupid to get away from them. Lets not excuse the papparazi either.

I dont like that some people are so hard on Brittany. Yes, fine her for no child restraint, but lay off the harsh words. I have no doubt that she loves her baby. And if anyone thinks they are perfect, go back to the parking lot and review the thread on dumb things we did as parents. Some of the posts on there are pretty bad. Believe me, I posted my own mistakes, so I am not innocent either. Seems people forget.

I dont think Brittany should have to hide her baby in the house all the time. That is ridiculous. Paparazzi should lay off, and it is the publics fault because we buy the trash and go nuts over it.

I totally believe that she felt smothered by these people, and was being rushed by them, she was prob. so sick of it, and she made a dumb and potentially deadly desicion. That should make paparazzi, IF they had a conscience, think and lay off a little. But they wont. I am sure she was just not joy riding down the highway with the baby on her lap.

There is so much compassion for Andrea Yates, who I do agree has problems, but none at all for Brittany. At least Britt. did not drown her kid in crap and vomit. All I am saying is, sure fine her for breaking the law and putting her kid in danger, but I think the name calling and total trashing of her is over the top, and not fair.

Brit does not look like she is trying to get away from paparazzi, IMO...she looks like she is almost smiling or something. She doesn't look harried, afraid, etc. like you'd think she'd look if being chased.

Edited to add: I think she's a bad parent b/c she had a child with KEVIN FEDERLINE...that is stupid enough!! :D :loser:

Ok, I was just sitting in the orthodontist's office waiting for my son and picked up In Touch magazine. It had a long article about Britney in it. It was the January issue and talked about her and Kevin splitting. He reportedly told her she would not get rid of him for less than $125 million. He also had lawyers look at the pre-nup he signed and according to his lawyers, the pre-nup could be deemed void because it is dated AFTER they married. It goes on to say that her mother did some checking and it does seem that Kevin's attorneys are correct in that the pre-nup could be challenged. Not too bright on Brit's part.

It also says that her mother BEGGED Britney to NOT take him back. That the mother has been keeping track of the money Kevin has gone through and it's been millions... cars, jewelry, the up-front money for his, ummm, cough, career... and so on.

It says so far Brit has not listened to her mom where Kevin is concerned. Only time will tell. I thought the article was interesting to say the least. I was shocked about the pre-nup... could be the reason Brit took him back.

Wow! Oh man, if I were her, I would absolutely kill her lawyers! Federslime is one expensive mistake on Brit's part.

Who knows if that's all true or not, but thought it was worth posting...

If I felt my child could ever be in danger, I would not be bringing them with me. Or at least have a few bodyguards. It's like the stars that go to the Ivy restaraunt. The photographers wait all day because it is a known hangout for stars. So when they get photographed suprise. I doubt it. Gotta keep your name in the press. No such thing as bad press, just keep your name in the game. This was a strange situation and I am sure she loves her baby. She will use more caution next time hopefully. Lessions us parents learn. We aren't perfect that's for sure! She also needs to lose that slimeball hubby. He is so gross.:twocents: IMO!

Thanks for reading my posts!:)

The position Britney's baby is in is called the "crusher" position, because that is exaclty what will happen to her baby in the event of a crash. If she were in a crash at 30 miles per hour, a 10 pound child could be thrown from the adult's lap into the dashboard or windshield with a force of 200 pounds.

JBean - I am living proof of this. When I was 6 months old, I was riding in the front seat on my mother's lap, with my Dad driving. For some reason, he had to stop suddenly and my head went clear through the windshield. My Dad told me many times how he stood at my crib that night and cried. I still have a noticeable scar between my eyebrows. It's frightening to think I could have been decapitated. This was in the days long before seat belts were invented, so we should all put this knowledge to good use.

I remember when I was little my dad use to cut the seat belts out. We would lay in the back of the window. How times change!

I am so glad you are here to tell the story. :blowkiss: Your poor dad..oh dear.
My parents used to take family trips with all 8 of us kids piled into a station wagon driving cross country. None of us were belted. While we were lucky time after time, there are so many children that were not so lucky. We have the knowledge,we have the technology and to not use it is negligence.

We recognize the dangers of smoking now that were not an issue years ago. Only 22 years ago when I had one of my kids, there were smoking maternity rooms for the mother and the child stayed in the room with the mom!
I know a woman who lost her baby when she was 8 months pregnant, simply because she didn't have a seat belt on and she slammed into the steering wheel on impact killing her unborn child. if she had been restrained, she would have a grown adult child by now.

Point is, today we know about dangers, have come up with solutions and laws have been mandated It is our job as parents to protect our kids.

Moreover,if I was being chased by the paparazzi I would be even more diligent about securing my baby in his seat.

I just just a few minutes ago on the news they said Britney fled StarBucks with her Bodygurad.............so that's the guy in the photos in the front seat talking on the cell phone I guess

Now why wasn't he driving? Why wasn't he guarding the safety of the baby if she wanted to drive................Why does she have to go to StarBucks herself if she doesn't want to be noticed, hell she can send him to go get it for her!

Makes me sick at myself for even posting anything about her, she isn't a young teenager:bang:

I completely agree with everything you said JB, and especially the part that we now know the dangers of so many things & have solutions.

It's kind of like the emails we all get that ask how we survived back when and it does jolt your memory.

Well, since Britney has stated that her career is putting her child in danger (i.e., having to flee from photographers) and she has stated that she will do anything to protect her child, I guess Brit will be retiring from show biz and move to some small town so that she no longer has to worry about her celebrity putting her child at risk. Right?

One could only wish. :D

Someone told me they saw Gloria Allred last night talking about this on one of the news shows last night. Did anyone catch that? I wondered what she had to say.
