Perhaps he had Hypothermia? Hypothermia can cause people to think they are hot so they often remove their clothes right before they die. Not sure why he would roll around in the mud but if there was a large mud puddle, perhaps he thought it would cool him down? In reality, if he had hypothermia his core temp was already very low and rolling in cold mud or any water at would drop his temp more.
He has a recognizable face. How sad he is still unidentified.

    MOO.

This caught my attention, as he was obviously alive when they found him.

I bet hypothermia is a good bet considering he was naked and it was January in New York. I wonder if there is any other medical condition that could cause him to decline so rapidly? Seizures? That wouldn't explain the state of undress, though.

definitely weird circumstances! really wish cause of death was available, don't know about hypothermia because if he was in a state of vigorous rolling i dont know how he could have deteriorated quickly especially with medical intervention...
looking for men of his appearance / height / age on NamUs...
Lawrence Verdell, recently discharged from the military. Asked his mum for some money and then left. I think that facially he is very similar, even clean-shaven.

Danny Lee Mitchell - last seen walking to a bar. Don't know about this one...a little too tall, and I doubt the MP would read as an involuntary disappearance.

Rex Allen Murray - not much known, just was known to be in downtown Phoenix. His pictures are so blurry but he has a similar round face.
