Rodney James Alcala (born Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor; August 23, 1943) is an American convicted rapist and serial killer who was sentenced to death in California for five murders committed in that state between 1977 and 1979, and received an additional sentence of 25 years to life after pleading guilty to two homicides committed in New York in 1971 and 1977.[2] Alcala's true victim count remains unknown, and could be much higher.[3][4]

Alcala compiled a collection of more than 1,000 photographs of women and teenage girls, many in sexually explicit poses. In 2016, he was charged with the 1977 murder of a woman identified in one of his photos.[5] Alcala is known to have assaulted one other photographic subject, and police have speculated that others could be rape or murder victims as well.[6]

Prosecutors have said that Alcala "toyed" with his victims, strangling them until they lost consciousness, then waiting until they revived, sometimes repeating this process several times before finally killing them.[6][7] One police detective described Alcala as "a killing machine",[8] and others have compared him to Ted Bundy.[9]

Alcala is sometimes called the "Dating Game Killer" because of his 1978 appearance on the television show The Dating Game in the midst of his murder spree.[10]

Oh, my.....beyond disturbing.

I wonder who the other guy with a camera is?

Edited: Do they have any reason to believe Alcala may have had an accomplice? @norest4thewicked Are you aware of anything that might indicate this? Or perhaps he was just on a photo shoot with another person? Any ideas who the guy is?

Yeah.. I thought it could've been an accomplice too tbh.

I have wondered whether he had a female accomplish.

The woman he was dating was towards the end of his crimes, right? Didn't she continue to visit him in prison? Do we know of anyone else who visited? I have seen a sister mentioned.

I'm piecing together what I have read here in various threads, so might be confusing Alcala with another creep. I know for some weird reason they often have admirers, and/or people who stand by them after it is obvious they're guilty.

It's just a hunch I always had. No particular woman is in mind.

She looks like one on Bradford's pics.
I wonder if this is the same person. She was photographed by William Bradford. I also suspect Alcala and him may have met. The woman in the center of the group pic, short dark hair, looks exceptionally like a woman Bradford has photographed multiple times.

Right, while it sounds kind of out there, it really isn't too much of a stretch to put two guys around the same age, same general area, similar tactics for luring women and have them bumping into one another at clubs or "professionally" *somehow. Alcala allegedly sold some of his pornographic photography to magazines, right? Was Bradford known to have done anything along those lines, or just the promise of "modeling jobs"?

*I had to put this in quotes since it sounds like Alcala was a total jerk/weirdo to other guys, based on the Dating Game contestant feedback, but maybe he would have been interested in comparing/trading dirty pics with another weirdo photographer? Thinking about the stories from coworkers who were subjected to the photos. He definitely had a need to share....
