A statement from DA spokesman Ted Asregadoo issued Wednesday said, “to date, there is insufficient evidence to establish that Ms. Clark knew Marshall Jones killed Alexis — or that Ms. Clark assisted Jones after the fact. However, if additional evidence surfaces, the DA’s Office would review it for possible criminal prosecution.”

Becton, in a statement, said, “It was a productive meeting. And it was good to have Mr. and Mrs. Gabe, law enforcement, and attorneys in one room so everybody could appreciate the state of the ongoing investigation.”

More than seven months after the disappearance of 24-year-old Alexis Gabe, her family is again asking the public for help in finding her remains, promising $100,000 for anyone who does so or has information leading to their discovery.

[...]

Oakley police announced the reward again on Facebook on Friday morning, making it clear that anyone who finds Alexis’ remains or has information leading to her discovery will be eligible to collect the money.

[...]

Her father, Gwynn Gabe, said it was his idea to extend the reward to anyone finding her remains since they were not having any luck by simply offering a reward for information that leads to her whereabouts.

“We came to our tough decision to finally accept that our only daughter is gone,” Gabe said on Facebook. “Losing a child is the worst feeling ever.”

[...]

Anyone who wants to search for Alexis’ remains is asked to sign up at the Gabes’ website at alexisgabe.com. Registration on the website is required to qualify for the reward.Anyone with tips on her disappearance can call 925-625-7009 or email [email protected] with any information.

Gwynn Gabe and family members: Alexis Gabe’s father, Gwynn, said his family has accepted her death but wants to give her a proper burial and memorial service.

The family of Alexis Gabe in Oakley, California, announced a $100,000 reward to anyone who can find her remains or has information leading to their location. Oakley police announced the reward again on Facebook.

Alexis Gabe, 24, was killed by her boyfriend, Marshall Curtis Jones, sometime on Jan. 26. Jones was shot and killed in May near Seattle as he charged police officers with a knife as they were trying to arrest him for murder.

Her father, Gwynn Gabe, of Oakley, California, said his family has accepted her death but wants to give her a proper burial and memorial service. The family has a Facebook page, “Help Bring Alexis Gabe Home.”

Anyone who wants to search for Alexis’ remains is asked to sign up at the Gabes’ website at alexisgabe.com. Registration on the website is required to qualify for the reward. Anyone with tips on her disappearance can call 925-625-7009 or email [email protected] with any information.

“When I sat there, I thought of all the memories,” Gabe’s mother Rowena said. “It is bittersweet because it is a car and not her.”

... The note details specifics of the route which eventually lead to Jackson Road, Highway 49, Ridge Road, Highway 88 and finally Defender Grade Road. The last line of the note reads: “Elementary school not far.”

Investigators and family members believe Alexis’s body could be buried somewhere in the Pioneer area. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Oakley Police Department tip line at (925) 625-7009 or email [email protected]. There's may be a break in the case.

OAKLEY, Calif. (KGO) -- The Gabe family has been searching for months for the remains of their daughter Alexis. Now, there may be a break in the case.

Gwyn Gabe, Alexis' father, says volunteers found what may be human bones in the small town of Pioneer, located 60 miles southeast of Sacramento, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The volunteers reported it to the local sheriff's department, who have sent it for DNA analysis.

A few days ago a member of the search party found a set of bones near the northern part of Defender Grade Road in Pioneer, but they turned out to belong to an animal.

Another search volunteer decided to check the southern part of Defender Road, closer to State Route 26 (which is also known as Red Corral Road). That volunteer found more remains. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. Gabe’s father says the sheriff’s office determined that some of the remains were human bones.

Gabe described the location, “Towards the end of the map was a left turn to Defender Grade Road if he was driving on Highway 88, so the police didn’t find anything there.” The handwritten directions were unclear, as there is no left turn onto Defender Grade Road from Hwy 88.

Gabe pointed out, “but if you go Hwy 26 there is a left turn onto Defender Grade Road…So I think the police might have missed that area,” Gabe said.

The remains were found on Sept. 28 on Old Defender Grade Road, a forested and remote street to the south of Pioneer, according to Gwyn Gabe, Alexis’ father.

“We just want to find her remains so we can bring her home,” he said in an interview Sunday.

He also said that authorities had identified a witness who said they saw a woman and two men with shovels on Old Defender Grade Road a couple of days after Gabe’s disappearance.

[...]

In early September, Gabe’s family announced a $100,000 award for anyone who could find her remains or information leading to her discovery. Gabe’s father said Sunday that more than 700 people had signed up so far — and that locals in Pioneer with expertise in the area had helped identify a road that hadn’t been previously investigated by police or previous search parties.

[...]

Gabe’s father said that the witness who saw people with shovels on Old Defender Grade Road said they had a car that matched the description of the one Jones was driving.

... Deputies called a forensic anthropologist to the scene “out of an abundance of caution,” though animal hair was attached to one of the bones, sheriff’s officials said.

The forensics expert was able to “quickly determine that the bones did not come from a human,” Amador officials said in the statement, adding, “We do not have any bones in our possession believed to be human and have not sent any out for DNA analysis.”

I was wondering when the sheriff’s office was going to make a public statement to clarify what actually transpired. The media gave it a lot of attention based on FB rumor. ETA MOO

It appears they've edited the article: PUBLISHED: October 2, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. | UPDATED: October 3, 2022 at 9:44 a.m.

If you copy/paste this into a Google search, it still comes up:

"He also said that authorities had identified a witness who said they saw a woman and two men with shovels on Old Defender Grade Road a couple of days after Gabe’s disappearance."
