GUILTY CA - Ana De Ceja, 26, slain, infant son abducted, Planada, 2 Dec 2010

I just watched the video at cbs47 & the reporter said they would give more info on the people who were trying to sell a baby coming up at 5 this evening...wonder what that's all about?

I wonder if they'll be eligible for the DP. (I think they absolutely deserve it.)

Baby Anthony is back w/ his dad

Sometimes, it's so hard to read the stories we read every day. But to see the relief on this man's face as he holds his son in amazing.

Screenshot of 2-month-old Anthony, back in his dad's arms, following mom's murder. More at 6.

RSBM I hope they check their other childrens' DNA to make sure they are theirs.

What utter evil. They have their own children, yet callously ripped this family apart. The level of disregard for life is astounding--it sounds like they thought they could go to the mall to steal a new toy and then discard it when it didn't work out for them. How could you look your own children in the face and not imagine how you would feel if someone did this to your family?? It's just inhuman.

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A North Valley family is reunited with their baby boy-- kidnapped in what authorities call a sinister plot that ended with the child's mother murdered.
................
Thursday night, was the first time Ana's family has seen the baby since his disappearance. And while they're relieved he's safe -- they are still in anguish that he and his siblings are now left without a mother.

The reunion between three-month-old Anthony Ceja and his family Thursday, offered loved ones a glimmer of hope in the aftermath of his mother's horrific murder.

Ana Diaz De Ceja's husband, Luis Ceja says he thanks god for his son, but that life will never be the same because he lost his wife.

more here - including video w/ baby Anthony...he survived hypothermia...when he was found his core body temp was only 86 degrees. :(

Planada is in central California, right? Does it get that cold there overnight? Would Anthony have developed hypothermia after only a few hours outside? Is it possible that the couple had abandoned him much earlier than that, and a good samaritan (possibly homeless) found him and placed him on the doorstep?

temps there at night have been in the 40's, days are mid 50's.

it probably didn't help that he was left naked, wrapped in a thin blanket on the doorstep.

I heard that on NG tonite - here's notes from what I heard

Robles has 3 kids from a previous relationship, couple wanted to have a child together

they left baby Anthony naked on a doorstep wrapped in a thin blanket

Ana let Robles hold baby Anthony at a clinic - that's where she fell in love with him & decided had to have him

witnesses told LE that the couple had approached them about helping them steal a baby - those witnesses ID'd Robles in a line-up

There's closed circuit video of Robles making purchases of baby items in a major dept store the day of Ana's murder

Robles & Velarde told the older kids that "Junior" was sick & had gone to the hospital, and were gonna tell them 2 or 3 days later the baby had died

Sheriff: California couple schemed to kill mother, steal baby

December 18, 2010

(CNN) -- A California county sheriff said Friday a couple executed what he called a "cold, calculating plan" to lure a mother to their home, strangle her and then run off with her baby.

Merced County sheriff's deputies Wednesday arrested Teresa Ceja Robles, 33, and her husband, Jose Augustine Velarde, 37, and charged them with murder in the killing of Ana Lila Diaz DeCeja inside their Planada house. The victim's infant boy reunited with his surviving family members, including his father and grandmother, the following night -- nine days after being abandoned in frigid conditions on a stranger's front stoop.

Sheriff Mark Pazin told HLN's "Nancy Grace" the pair killed the 26-year-old woman because they wanted to have her 2-month-old boy, a desire that began after Diaz let Robles hold the baby in a medical clinic shortly after his birth.

This could easily be just a typo... but I wondered if there was another sibling we are unaware of? I only know of Anthony and the other 5 year old boy. Is there another one?

Just thinking that this may have something to do with how she was lured to the house... if they both had a child around the same age.

I'm absolutely in shock at the evil in this world. I'm so glad baby Anthony has been reunited with his family, but my heart really goes out to all those who loved Ana. What a HORRIBLE way to lose a loved one for no reason at all.

To the couple that did this...I hope they rot in jail. This is absolutely sickening.

I just summarized the details

* suspects were caught on tape buying baby items at a Walmart in Merced, while holding an infant

* the pair confessed to abducting baby Anthony because Teresa had a miscarriage and they wanted a son to raise as their own

* a witness said Teresa offered him $1,500.00 dollars to kidnap a baby for her in November, but he refused
