Ummmm Betty Lou had her own shotgun. LE responded to an attempted break in, and commanded Miss Betty to drop her firearm. She did not. Where, where do we go from here?
91-year-old Victorville woman fatally shot by deputies after pointing shotgun at them, authorities say VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 91-year-old Victorville woman who allegedly pointed a shotgun at San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies had died two days after being shot in the confrontation, authorities said Monday. The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday after a 911 caller reported an attempted break-in in the 17800 block of Sunburst Road, in the community of Spring Valley Lake, according to a sheriff's news release. Deputies arrived and a woman, later identified as Betty Francois, came out the front door of the home armed with a shotgun," the statement said. Authorities said Francois pointed the firearm at the deputies after they commanded her to drop it, and "a deputy-involved shooting" then occurred. Francois was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she died Monday morning, officials said. A relative said Francois was legally blind and deaf. Her nephew is apparently in federal prison for playing a role in the 2014 Bundy Ranch standoff in Nevada.
So the cops thought this 91-year old woman was enough of a threat to kill her? She allegedly called the cops because of a break-in, though the cops claimed they found no evidence of it. Are they going to claim that this was all a set-up by Ms. Francois to ambush law enforcement? The fact that she is related to one of the men involved in the 2014 Bundy Standoff with law enforcement could contribute to this argument, if the police in this case should make it... Family, neighbors seek answers after deputies shoot, kill 91-year-old Victorville woman who is legally blind
She was old, probably frail, deaf so she most likely didn't hear them say to put the gun down. And legally blind. Perhaps she didn't realise where she was pointing the gun at ?
Here we go. Poor Betty afraid out of her with. Police summoned trying without a doubt to help an elderly lady. Possibly can't hear too well. Almost positive she can't see hardly at all. Police come and stare down a shotgun? I ain't a cop. However, how's Betty's neighborhood.? Indeed it was her right to live alone. Maybe she had no kin? You live that long you deserve respect! However do we think the cop or cops that shot Miss Betty did it on purpose? It's awful and some may say an elderly woman should have been supervised. Especially owning firearms. Seriously there's LE beside themselves right now! My condolences to Miss Betty and her family. Put it this way I almost got it in my family. If my DD and I weren't here I still wouldn,'t be a caregiver. RIP Miss Betty. BLESS YOU!
Ohhh her husband passed in 2011 After retirement he considered golf his occupation. He originally was from Nebraska. This according to his obit. Says other family, but just mentions Betty Lou. No matter the horrendous circumstances I believe he was there to meet her.h
That's what I was taught. I'm wondering if poor Miss Betty being legally blind and deaf "thought" someone was breaking in. How would she hear or see anyone? Possibly her mind was starting to go a bit. In that case again she indeed was a threat. Just a thought. Perhaps she did have her mind? A night companion or Nurse would have been great if affordable. However, many elderly don't want anyone in their house. So sad all around.
