Why isn't this video being discussed more?

This is probably one of the best pieces of non-LE investigative footage I've seen since for this case. It gives us a good 1st person view of what Elisa Lam was doing in the elevator.

It also details that the B (basement) button, DOES in fact light up. However, what time of day was this video recorded?

Also, notice how the person presses the 14th floor elevator button (which DOES light up), but when he presses the 10th floor button, the 14th floor button lights off and then the 10th floor button it goes red after.

So is it confirmed she actually is on the 15th floor or 14th floor now based on this new footage?


And also, I'm a little confused how people are taking that 'Body Language Expert' analysis as being thorough.


He's only examining WITHOUT doing any research of the Cecil Hotel layouts, Elisa Lam's documented personality and etc.

Personally, that analysis is a bit moot without these factors being used.

Many strange similarities to Elisa Lam's case and the movie "Dark Waters".

I wonder if one of the long time resident/employees who knew the history of the Cecil Hotel's freaky past, were very aware of this story below and tried to copycat it with Elisa Lam as their victim

In the movie the daughters name is Ceci (Cecil Hotel), a missing girls body was found in a large water storage tank on the roof of the building in the movie. The plumbing in the movie was always black/not working just like the Cecil Hotel due to the body in the water. An actress called "The Black Dahlia" in the 1940's stayed at the Cecil Hotel and was later found murdered; the mothers name in the movie was Dahlia......

Except Elisa isn't wearing heels. She's wearing flats. You can see them clearly when she jumps out of the elevator.

That's not quite the point of her friend who had posted. Whether they are heels or flats, they didn't recognize the cross-over her foot as something she'd normally wear.

The Yelp reviews for Cecil Hotel suggested that it was a great hotel for someone looking to tour the Fashion District, other reviews mentioned close proximity to convenient spots as well, but that is what stood out for me as a reason she might risk her safety.

Hi. I was a friend of Elisa. I haven't seen or heard from her in over a year, but we use to hang out and talk quite a bit online before I moved to Montreal. In my opinion the lady in the elevator isn't her, not only because the woman doesn't look like Elisa in the face, but it also appears the person in the elevator is wearing heels with straps.

She is wearing sandals in the video.

The images of Alvin Taylor in the LA Times article are interesting and creepy. Anyone have more information about him or his adopted son? Not pointing fingers here, just curious since I read that facebook post/comment by the young man who lived at The Cecil and seems to find the 2 of them shady.

I hope justice for Elisa will come swiftly.

She gets her foot stuck in the piping at the bottom. The guy who was playfully chasing her around the Cecil goes to bed assuming she just blew him off - a brief traveling flirtation. He moves on to another country or who knows where. Over the next 48 hours EL succumbs to hypothermia.

This theory fits with the body language of the elevator - flirtation, relaxed, fun, availability display.

That could very well be a plausible scenario. It would explain why she was on the roof and why she might have got into the tank herself.

She definitely looks like she's on something in the video, either something she voluntarily took or was slipped. She could have also been in a manic state after not taking her meds, impairing rational judgement.

This is found in her tumblr blog .../tagged/happiness, I was hunting through tags because I'm just too busy to read the entire thing. depression, religion, and science were interesting - appears to be atheist.

He failed to do any background research of the Cecil Hotel floor layouts, the elevator control panels, Elisa Lams personal details, personality and etc.




This analysis was only as if somebody just viewing the CCTV footage for the first time without doing any other research. It's assumptive, and also misleading.


I fail to see how she's displaying sexual tendencies, on drugs or playing a game of charades like hide & seek.

You're right. It should be discussed more. I find it very interesting that the bathroom is right there to the right, maybe someone didn't close the door and it was kind of an embarrassing/awkward situation, leading to seemingly odd behavior.

I've just seen the video that was published in our Local paper here, I'm a bit slow on following this, but, it does appear to me that she is wearing sandals, you can see the back of her heels and her foot is flat to the ground.

It appears to me that, she's under the influence of something mind altering. First off it looks like she is scared and trying to avoid someone, she starts pressing buttons randomly, and then she seems to hang out in the hallway playing with her fingers, its clear her mind is not all there.

I'm wondering if she encountered someone and was given a drink with some kind of drug in it....very strange behaviour.:waitasec:

Can the medical examiner prove if she was raped even though she was submerged under water so long?

According to CBS Los Angeles, KNX 1070's Claudia Peschiutta reported guests were disturbed to learn Lam's nude body was found inside one of the four large water tanks.

smeinzer, an informant here who stayed at the Stay At Main hotel located on floors 4-6 stayed at the Cecil Hotel on Feb.7th-10th. smeinzer says that the Basement button did light up at around 8am in the morning. So is the basement button de-activated at night time or is it operational for the entire day and night?

So is it confirmed she actually is on the 15th floor or 14th floor now based on this new footage?


Notices she walks to the left hallway near the end of the video on the CCTV footage below. She could of:

A. Took the elevator to the left

B. Went down (or up if she's on the 14th floor) the stairwell on the left hallway

C. Went to the fire escape on the hallway

I posted the original link, not that I necessarily agreed. I thought it might be interesting to consider an interpretation from someone considering themselves a body language expert, but especially so if they had done no research whatsoever and used the footage as their only/primary source, which I don't know if he did. Considering all the other extraneous and unconfirmed details would only lead to more outside influence and make an attempted independent/blind analysis pretty useless.

I don't know the answers and I have the same questions! It's possible that she wasn't necessarily raped but an attempt was made and she died (i.e. hand over her mouth to keep her from screaming suffocates her, etc.). Was it confirmed that her clothes clogged the valve or is that still speculation? There was a report that she was nude, but I don't know if that was confirmed either.

IIRC, the autopsy was inconclusive. I can't remember if there were no marks on her at all or if there was just obvious cause of death. If she was sexually assaulted and if they can tell that, perhaps that's a detail that LE is withholding?

The bottles were in the images from Chinese reporters posted earlier in this thread. No idea if they're new or linked to Elisa or a perp, but I do think they imply that the roof was used for partying (and I'm venture to guess the partying didn't just involve beer).

I hope whichever law enforcement is in charge of this case fingerprints all those bottles seen in pics that smash the stack posted, looks like a lot of evidence and can look at the graffiti for handwriting samples as the person/perps who may have done this horrible crime might be regular hooligans to that roof! I pray that someone knows something and will have their better conscience speak and come forward to give peace and a closure to Elisa's family. Someone has a clue please come forward Thank You

I've considered this too, as I do think she was being playful in the elevator (or sleepwalking). I can see her getting up to the roof during a game of hide and seek or tag or whatever, but I'm not so sure she would go in the tank. Also: Isn't the tank tall enough that her feet wouldn't be able to touch the bottom? Then again, who knows? Stranger things have happened.
