Del Wilder became somewhat of a recluse after (his wife) Elissa died of cancer in 2006, family members said. “He went into a deep depression,” Heidi said. “He was pretty tore up about my mom.” At some point after that, Heidi theorizes, her dad got involved with drugs — and that might be what ultimately led to his death. “He went down a dark road,” she said. “Clearly, he was tangled up with the wrong people. He was not hanging out with family or friends, he isolated himself away from everyone.”

Suspect arrested in Delbert Wilder cold case months after release of docuseries

After 12 years, detectives have taken a step forward by arresting a suspect in connection with the death of a Grass Valley father and Army veteran, almost two months after releasing an episode to a docuseries about the victim's cold case.

More than 12 years after a man was found dead in his Nevada County home, officials are crediting a docuseries in helping find the person believed responsible for the murder. The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said it arrested 47-year-old Eric Craig Hodges, of Nevada City, in connection with the death of 63-year-old Delbert Wilder of Grass Valley.
