DEVORE, Calif.Human remains that may have been buried for several years were found by a homeowner digging in the backyard, authorities said Thursday.
The bones were uncovered Monday in the homeowner's backyard near Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass, said San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers.
Deputies determined the remains were human because some clothing was found with the bones.
Investigators estimate the remains may have been buried for more than 15 years, because the homeowner had been living there since 1993, Beavers said.
The remains were transported to the coroner's office where officials will use dental records to determine the person's identity, she said.
