CA CA - East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer *ARREST* #2

They caught th Grim Sleeper Lonnie Franklin, Jr out of Los Angeles from familial DNA. They need to use it for the Zodiac Killer case and the LISK case if they ever get any DNA from that.

This guy is smart. He stalked his prey, learned the families habits, planned his crime s well. He didn't just get stupid overnight. He's either faking or I should heavily drugged right now. But once th sedation is gone, he's still the same cunning serial killer he was before. IMO

Not only are the top of his ears distinctive, but his right earlobe looks like it was injured and healed oddly . Did someone bite him? Also the rim of that ear toward the top looks like it has a scar running along the edge.

I wonder if he has evidence of a broken shoulder. In Michelle's book, it mentions that in 1977, LE got a tip from an er that someone disappeared before getting treated. Their id and everything was fake .A victim had been attacked that night and esr may have fallen into a canal.

That sealed it for me. Besides the DNA that voice is so unusual, I'm shocked his friends didn't recognize his voice. Unless they weren't following the case.

His brother in law said he asked him what he would do if he came face to face with the rapist.
It would be hard to live in those places back then and not know about all the break ins and rapes, imo.

My apologies if this interview with Investigator Paul Holes was already shared. Very interesting.

I really like Paul. This is a MUST SEE video if people have not watched the whole thing. Its long but well worth it.

Paul was also on the HLN special about this case. It is so ironic that he got his man 3 weeks after official retirement. At least he is helping in an advisary role to other LE people. Paul is probably one of the most knowledgeable LE people there is that knows this case from top to bottom.

in general, the CO's that work at a county jail are assigned to transport or escort so the same CO's who escort/transport the inmates in high power are the same ones who escort/transport inmates from the medical unit.

He's also had decades to study his fellow serial killers.
IMO he is sly as a fox and some duff is going to fall for his act.
He is DANGEROUS!
I hope he doesn't play them for a fool.

Now that little Joe is behind bars, and we finally know “who” he is... I’d like to find out:

1. Does he have a tattoo of the bull?
2. What vehicles did he own or have access to during the crimes (to see if those reported were actually the killer’s)
3. Was it really his voice on the phone recordings? Seeing him as he looks today it doesn’t seem like what his voice would be like (not saying he wasn’t the caller, just curious)
4. What does his personnel file look like at the 2 LE agencies he was with? They’re probably long gone but have a hard time believing he was a model cop other than the one shoplifting event that did him in.
5. In his divorce were there any allegations of domestic violence?

It’s too bad Michelle M isn’t here any more because she could have written the sequel and filled in the gaps.

I want to know how many times he responded, as a cop, to his own crimes.
Starting in Visalia.

yes, CA does have several prison hospitals.

I agree that he's medicated properly for legit. reasons. His BP is likely sky high without meds right now. A BP med. can't be started at the therapeutic dosage in most cases... it has to be adjusted slowly for safety. He may be acting like a vegetable, but he's raging inside. No medication takes away the anger he has to have right now.

I think CA has prison hospitals, since Charles Manson died in one. He could go to a penal hospital, right? Physically restrain him properly and chemically restrain him with sedatives, tube feed him while he's on his pity party hunger strike, then 'buff and turf him' and get him to trial.

The Untouchable just got caught with a very sharp hook. Justice delayed but not denied.

Got away with it for all these years.they have the right man......thanks to a clever neighbour in part.

There was also one of the cases where he was caught prowling around and a public person gave chase and tackled him. Unfortunately he managed to get up turn around and shoot the public person and he got away.

Point is the GSK may have gotten injured when he was tackled.

Could be the same reason he may have went to hospital that night. Maybe it is same situation.

Listen to his court appearance. He has a tiny high pitched voice!

From the Sacramento Bee:

"Paul Holes, the newly retired Contra Costa County investigator who chased the East Area Rapist for 24 years and was part of the team that watched DeAngelo in recent weeks, questioned DeAngelo's frail court appearance."No, no, no, no," Holes said. "This guy was moving around like a young 50-year-old. He was riding his motorcycle, bombing down the freeway at over 100 miles per hour. Stop signs are optional for this guy.""

ok, so back to what I knew! :)

It went before the CA Supreme Court recently to make them throw out the DNA collected from people charged with a felony but not convicted, about a third of cases.
They lost.
If they arrest you for a felony in CA, they keep your DNA, even if you are innocent or plea bargain down your charges to a misdemeanor.
About half the states collect DNA from criminals or suspects.

It well could be medications, but he had the same spaced-out, slack-jawed, mouth-breather pose in his booking photo. I don't know if he would have already been medicated by then, though? I sort of doubt it.

Maybe he was hungover.

Thanks for the quote, unfortunately, I’ve read all my free articles for the month at Sacbee. :tantrum:

There you go. For anyone thinking he may be frail. LOL

Handling a motorcycle is no small feat. I used to own one. Even if it was a smaller motorcycle it takes considerable strength to put them on their kickstand and handling corners and so forth.

This tells me that he was either on a sedative during court or he was totally faking it or a little of both. I think a little of both.

Thanks. That does explain one way to do it (through 23andMe), but I don't know if it's the only way to get the FtDNA report.

The way I understand this is the crime lab tested their samples years ago. Which is how they connected the EAR to the ONS because they found out via DNA it was the same person. So the crime lab had his DNA on file for years and kept testing it against the crime databases. Then according to the retired investigator Holes, they tried GedMatch. They must know how to convert whatever data form they had to one of the file formats accepted by GedMatch. And then went from there.
