from @JoeFromLB's link:

When deputies responded, they found the children's grandmother, only identified as a woman in her 50s, and all of the young victims suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

All of the children were under the age of 12, including an infant.

What a horrible tragedy. Four children and their grandmother shot dead. Is the grandmother David's mother?
My heart aches for those who will miss this family.

Thanks, @JoeFromLB. Following...

Anything about their birth mother? Haven't seen anything.
LE is just getting started -- we'll hear more, I'm sure.
What possessed this man -- what?

And why any bond -- regardless of the amount???

She was one of the people that found them. Whoever she was with called 911 and then she got on the phone.

As far as the bond issue goes, it's a set amount. Sadly, even if it was considered capital murder, which is no bail, they wouldn't be able to file it as such.

I don't quite understand why it's not considered "capital" murder. Do you mean "special circumstances", which qualify for the death penalty in California? Multiple murders is a special circumstance in this state and no bail is warranted, to my knowledge.

Father arrested in shooting deaths of 4 children, grandmother found at Lancaster home | KTLA
A 29-year-old father was arrested on suspicion of murder for the shooting deaths of his four children and their grandmother, who were found at a Lancaster home Sunday night, officials and family members said.

Deputies first responded to the home on the 3500 Block of Garnet Lane after getting a call around 10:27 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said in a news release.

They arrived to find the grandmother, a woman in her 50s, suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper torso.

One girl and three boys — all under the age of 12 — were also found with gunshot wounds to their upper torsos.

All five were pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

Germarcus David, the children’s father and son-in-law of the woman, was detained when he showed up at the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station lobby, the Sheriff’s Department said.

He was interviewed by investigators and arrested Monday morning.

Coroner releases names of slain California kids, grandmother
LANCASTER, Calif. -- The Los Angeles County coroner has identified the victims in the brutal slaying of a grandmother and her four grandchildren, including a boy not yet 2 years old, in the Southern California high desert.

The children's father, Germarcus Lamar David, is a security guard whose online posts talked about following a good and religious life. Prosecutors on Tuesday filed criminal charges against him — five counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child causing death.

David, 29, is expected to appear in court Tuesday. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.

“No family should endure this type of tragedy, especially when the alleged perpetrator was responsible for their protection,” District Attorney George Gascón said in a news release Tuesday that announced the charges.

The coroner's office said the deceased are: Ericka England, 51; Namyiah David, 11; Germarcus David Jr., 7; Kaden David, 2; and Noah David, 19 months. The coroner’s office has not yet completed autopsies on the victims but authorities previously said they were shot in the upper torso and died at the scene.

England was babysitting her grandchildren. The children's mother returned home Sunday night to find the bodies of her family and called 911, authorities said.

That poor mom must be on suicide watch. I cannot even fathom finding my 4 babies and my mom, dead when I arrived home.

I agree. I don't think I could survive the loss of one child to this kind of hate, but four? And she lost her mother too!
(I'm assuming it was her mother. Different last name than the monster who did this.)

In LA County it would have to fall under certain circumstances to qualify. Depending on what the investigation reveals, it may qualify for that. In the end it doesn't matter because the LACo DAs office won't file any charges that will end in the death penalty or LWOP.

Really? Not LWOP? Where I live we do not have the death penalty but we do have LWOP, used rarely but we have it.

Yeah, its ridiculous. Any sentence that insures a person won't be paroled is off the table. Prosecutors also are supposed to ask for the lowest possible sentence as well
