CA CA - Four missing, Los Angeles, 1996/97 (One apparently found)

There are way too many holes in the case. Has the original account actually been verified?

They are all listed as missing on the LAPD and CDOJ website so looks like it checks out. In all of the descriptions it says..."may be a patient of a medical facility or be in the care of a board and care facility". Wonder if it could be some type of insurance fraud or something.

If they were in some "medical facility " they would still receive Social Security or other government benefits that Law Enforcement would be able to trace. Entering such a facility should not make someone a "missing person" but someone who is not a relative may be unable to locate someone in such a situation.

Patricia is listed on The Doe Network now (likely has been for years, but someone earlier in the thread mentioned she wasn't), as are the two gentlemen. I'll leave a link at the bottom of my post.

Worth noting that police may not legally be allowed to release the doctor's name, since it may violate doctor-patient confidentiality laws. I know that's the case for shrinks, anyway (thanks, Law and Order!), and beyond that, the doctor MAY be able to sue for slander if it's alleged that he had something to do with his patients' disappearances. At the very least, he'd lose business, so there might be legal or financial pressure there. Makes it harder for us, and possibly even LE, which is a shame. :\

I wish the families were more involved on this. Without a break in the case, it's gonna take family pressure for a news outlet to do a story on this. We're coming up on 20 years now. :\

Does anyone have any additional information about these particular disappearances?

Laxer, circa 1997

Details of Disappearance
Laxer returned to her residence in North Hollywood, California after a doctor's appointment on August 11, 1997. She has never been seen again. Her car was later found near the Universal City overlook. At the time of her disappearance, she may have been despondent over an upcoming move to Oregon. She may be a patient in a hospital or nursing home.

Laxer was reportedly a patient of the same doctor who treated Robert Black, who disappeared in 1996, and Goldie Swanger and Richard Davison, both of whom vanished in 1997. Swanger was found in 2004, but the others are still missing. All four missing persons disappeared either en route or upon returning from appointments with the same physician. It is not known if the cases are otherwise connected in any way.
