Joan Penderell Taylorleft her home in Bayside to go for a walk on Nov. 23, 2003. A neighbor reported seeing her on Jacoby Creek Road near Quarry Road later that evening. Taylor was 63 at the time and reportedly suffering from dementia or other, unspecified mental health issues. She was described as standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds, with blue eyes and blond hair. She was last seen wearing a green rain parka and rain paints and silver Nike hiking boots. Today she would be 77.

Details of Disappearance​

Taylor left her home on Jacoby Creek Road in Arcata, California on November 25, 2003. She was last seen walking up the road, near Echo Lane, in a heavily wooded area. She was carrying holly branches at the time. Her boyfriend reported her missing twenty minutes later.

Taylor has never been heard from again; extensive searches have failed to find any trace of her. She is considered to be endangered due to her medical conditions, and her friends fear she may have taken her own life or met with foul play.
