I looked but did not see a thread for this case. She has gone 57 years today without ID and she is not in NaMus.
May 2018 be the year she is finally identified.

I wonder what Kern County routinely did with UID remains back then. If she was buried and they can locate her remains they really should exhume her for a complete battery of tests, including isotope analysis on her bone.

Not many missing cases from before 1961. With how long ago these remains were found, I wonder if they could be "off" on some things like age estimate, height, times of death, etc.

Betty Roberts, 29, went missing in Nov 1959. She had dentures. But she had brown hair, not red, and is list a couple inches taller than the UID height estimate.
Only black and white photos of her available so no way to check if her brown hair might have looked reddish.

Not a strong match, but maybe she should be ruled out to get this UID case a new look by LE. Would anyone like to submit Betty?

I've read recently that there are red tints underlying most brown hair, so is it possible that the brown could have leached out due to environmental conditions (UV?) leaving the red behind?

I currently live in Kern county, the open desert around here is pretty vast, there’s lots of wide untouched areas without homes or towns....

I am extremely curious to know where in Mojave desert the body was located... was it near any of the highways? Any way to find out more exact details?

In 1961 many of the housing developments in the incorporated areas did not exist.

Decedent was wearing a white cotton dress with a lavender floral print, beige cotton sweater, white nylon slip, possibly wearing snuggie underwear, size 5 blue wedge shoes.

"The skeleton of a woman, believed to have died approximately nine months ago, was found Monday on the isolated Los Angeles Aqueduct Road - 14 miles north of Mojave."

"The head was separate from the torso."

"One wedge shoe, a blue and white print dress, a silk slip and a sweater were nearby. The lower dentures were intact."

I did some digging in the newspapers and did find a missing woman named Betty Jane Franklin. She went missing in September of 1960, not sure if she was ever found.

She has red hair, is around the right height and age. No mention of dentures. PMI would be off for her though.
