    There are similarities.
The reconstruction on Doe Network looks like he has a thicker face, nose. But it is a reconstruction.

It is about 400 miles from Monterey area to Eureka, CA.(Humboldt Cty)
And if driving on the coast road, it will take 7 hours or so.

So do you think then because its 7 hours away its not a good match? That was what I was thinking, how would he get there...

He could have been hitch hiking and got picked up by the wrong person.

My thinking is: Submit this. You won't know til you try and it is a good enough match. Let's hope he is found.

It seems entirely natural to start out near Big Sur (he was traveling if he was at a campground) and then head north up Highway 1 or 101. It's only a "missing from" location - he could have had his own means of transport even if he wasn't hiking and still gotten into trouble. The big "problem" with a match is that there is not much data to rule out/filter and the fact that these two are both within the same state and therefore should have been placed on the same databases already, with DNA available. So it should be an easy rule out - which means it should have been done. Of course it can't hurt to check.
