This Jane Doe fell (or jumped) from the roof of the the same hotel (Cecil Hotel) where the body of 21 year old Elisa Lam was found in the rooftop water tank in 2013, after she was filmed by the hotel elevator surveillance cameras acting bizarrely.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Elisa_Lam

Serial killer Richard Ramirez also was staying at the Cecil Hotel in 1984-1985 while he was actively committing the "Night Stalker" murders.

Sounds like it was a cheap place to find a room.

It's a real fleabag hotel. There have been a lot of deaths there, particularly suicides. The Austrian serial killer, Jack Unteweger, also stayed there while committing his three confirmed American murders. I don't know why they don't shut it down.

Given that she had scars on both wrists I think this is suicide rather than accident.

The Cecil Hotel is closed until 2019 currently as it is undergoing renovations.

From what I can see it remains in use because it provides cheap, affordable accommodation.
