A missing person investigation is now a homicide investigation.

Sacramento County sheriff's deputies in the south section of the county near Twin Cities are searching for the body of 41-year-old Matthew Seybert, who hasn't been seen since mid-November.

Deputies believe he may have met with foul play.

On Nov. 25, a friend of Seybert called police to say he hadn't been seen in a week.

Last weekend, Seybert's family called detectives with doubts about his disappearance.

I'm sorry, LookOut. Welcome to WS though.

Do you think this guy they are looking for knew Matt?

Yes, He was the caretaker on the property that Matthew lived on. He also has Matt's ATM card since he has been missing. LE has the guy in Canada somewhere but he may have returned to California. I hope they catch him soon. Interesting thing about the two is they both spent time in jail together back in 2001.

Murder Suspect Extradited Back To Sacramento

A man wanted in connection with a 2007 homicide has finally been extradited back to Sacramento from Canada.

Arthur Charles Carnes was arrested in British Columbia early last year, but fought his deportation back to the U.S. He was finally deported on May 15 and taken into custody by law enforcement in Washington State. He was released into the custody of Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies yesterday.

Carnes was booked into the Sacramento County jail on charges of murder, acquiring an access card without the cardholder's consent, and identity theft. The charges stem from the November 2007 disappearance of 41-year old Matthew Seybert.

From July 2014:

A jury found defendant Arthur Charles Carnes guilty of first degree murder and found he personally and intentionally used and discharged a firearm, causing death... The trial court sentenced him to prison for 50 years to life...

On December 4, 2007, peace officers found a bullet hole in Seybert’s bloody bedroom. Later, they found his severed head and body parts on the property. Seybert’s body had been stabbed more than 20 times, and he was partly emasculated. Earlier, officers found Seybert’s bank statement in the shed defendant used, and later defendant made five $500 ATM withdrawals from Seybert’s account at banks in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.

On January 26, 2008, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) found an AK- 47 assault rifle in defendant’s bedroom in British Columbia, Seybert’s bank cards and watch, and a camera with images of Seybert bound, then decapitated and dismembered.
