Authorities say a 17-year girl who didn't return home from summer school Thursday may have been kidnapped.

Norma Lopez was reported missing by her younger sister around 12:25 p.m. Thursday, Sgt. Joe Borja of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

Witnesses reported that a green SUV was seen speeding from the area, and detectives believe Lopez may have been taken against her will, Borja said.

The 17-year-old attended a summer class between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Valley View High School, a little over a mile away from her home, according to Borja.

Lopez had planned to meet her younger sister and a friend around 10 a.m., but never showed up, he said.

Lopez was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black and white striped sleeveless shirt and black "skinny" jeans, according to the sheriff's department.

Everything I have seen/read seems to say she attended the class from 8-10 and then had plans to meet a friend and her sister after.

Also new, her family searched for her for 2 hours before calling police. They are the ones that found her belongings.

    SNIpped...........................................

As she was headed to a home on Cottonwood Avenue, police believe she may have taken a shortcut through a dirt field that students often use, police said.

Witnesses reported she may have been forced into a green sports utility vehicle that was seen speeding away from the scene against her will

So if she had a routine for summer school, 8:00 am to 10:00 am someone could have been watching her daily especially if she walked the same way every time she went to school and back home......

Prayers for Norma, I hope she is found quickly and safely

I hope they find her soon. This doesn't look good at all. Have there been any reports about a boyfriend or if anyone has noticed anyone trying to pick up girls in the area?

Not again! I pray they find this beautiful girl soon. I wish LE would at least say whether she had a cell phone with her or if it was among the belongings they found.

    I hope she's ok.

17-year-old Moreno Valley girl may have been taken by force

    Friday, July 16th, 2010.
    Issue 28, Volume 14

MORENO VALLEY - A 17-year-old Moreno Valley girl who went missing on her way home from summer school may have been taken by force, eliciting pleas from her family today for her safe return.

"We want her back. We miss her, and we want her home safe," said Sonja Lopez, whose sister, Norma, has been the subject of an intense search involving Riverside County sheriff's personnel and others since around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

"If you're watching this, Norma, please call us," Sonja pleaded tearfully during a news conference this afternoon at the sheriff's Moreno Valley station. "We're not going to be mad at you or anything."

Norma Lopez was reported missing by family members when they couldn't locate her after she left Valley View High School, where she attended a summer class between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"They looked in a dirt field and along a trail that she normally walks (as a shortcut home)," Sgt. Joe Borja said, referring to a rural area behind the family's residence in the 27300 block of Cottonwood Avenue, near Moreno Beach Drive.

"We found property belonging to her. There were indications of a possible struggle that may have occurred ... We've been working non-stop since she was reported missing," Borja said.
