CA CA - Orange Co., HispFem Skel UP12250, 30-60, 'Coach Williams' on jacket, Jan'14

(snipped)

NAMUS says DNA pending, but already has 35 exclusions.

I guess that unique dental bridge lets them rule people out pretty easily.

Martha looks like a good possibility.

Her missing page on FB is through an organization called Human Trafficing Survivors: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.704337112912431.1073741841.181899228489558&type=3

Four women missing from that area since August: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/women-593433-missing-vargas.html

This article indicates one woman was found alive (volutarily missing) but still no word on the others as of Dec. 18: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/orange_county&id=9365292

February article indicating all three women are still missing and SAPD is taking it seriously: http://newsantaana.com/2014/02/21/t...ing-info-on-three-missing-women-in-santa-ana/

A man who identifies himself as her boyfriend commented on this item on Missing Persons of America: http://www.missingpersonsofamerica.com/2013/11/martha-anaya-missing-from-santa-ana.html

Its interesting that the other two missing Santa Ana women are on the rule out list but not Martha. Her DNA is sample submitted--pending, so wondering if they are waiting on that?

Does anyone have past contact with OC Coroner to ask? I would love to get more details on that dental bridge, too.

Considering how often dental records come into play in crime and other cases, it's too bad dental bridges are not engraved with some identifier, like a dentist's license #... but may not be practical...

that's a really good point. seems like with both common methods of making bridges, either lost-wax casting or with CAD machinery, they might at a minimum be able to assign a state and dentist id. it could be a marker as small as those on jewelry and hidden in the back of the mouth.

if I was a coroner/LE I would definitely be interested in sponsoring some kind of federal mandate for dentists/orthodontists.

doing a little searching, the british advocate for denture labelling (http://www.nature.com/bdj/journal/v190/n7/full/4800972a.html) it also looks like the ADA advocates for denture labelling, but its not a requirement.

Here are some additional scholarly articles advocating for denture labelling: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3180836/

After comparing this Jane Doe's dental chart to one that's numbered a few things stick out:

1) Jane Doe did not have upper wisdom teeth (1, 16) and did not have one wisdom tooth on the bottom (32) antemortem/before death. Jane Doe DID have one wisdom tooth on her lower jaw (17). While I'm not a dental professional, I think it's odd she only has one wisdom tooth. Maybe it's possible her other three wisdom teeth were removed.

2) Jane Doe did not have her second molar (18) on her lower jaw antemortem.

3) Jane Doe had a gold (Au) crown on her first molar, lower jaw (19) extending to her wisdom tooth. The bridge Jane Doe was described as having was a cantilever bridge. If only the framework of the bridge was gold the false tooth (18) may have been porcelain. The false tooth (18) was missing. This may be relevant because if she had a porcelain false tooth Jane Doe's friends/family/acquaintances may not have noticed her gold dental work or they only saw the crown (19).

Examples of how a cantilever bridge can look may be found here: http://www.nature.com/bdj/journal/v194/n6/fig_tab/4809940a_F6.html

Description of a cantilever bridge from: http://www.1800dentist.com/cantilever-bridge/
"Consisting of a series of dental crowns fused together, the dental bridge uses a false tooth, or pontic, to replace the missing tooth. As each dental crown is cemented to the adjacent teeth, the pontic rests comfortably in the space where the missing tooth used to be."

I'm fascinated by the amount of dental work some of these UIDs and missing people have. The most extensive dental work I've ever had was braces when I was 22.

Interesting....

Two men have been arrested in connection with Martha Anaya's disappearance... And three other females...

Perhaps this will help you all on this thread?

HTH...:seeya:

Additionally... The men connected to Martha Anaya's disappearance are both sex offenders and transients...

I imagine transients would choose camping areas to stay to keep "under the radar"... And for inexpensive sleeping accommodations....

Possibly the two men went to Gasper's Park with Martha.... Left her there... And left without her....

Just some thoughts...

Has there been an estimate on when she died? How long body there?

The looks like a vollyball to me however both are similar.

Could it be as simple as she was a Coach Williams? I wouldn't wear someone else's coach's jacket.

What color was jacket? Any discernable school colors? High school, club, college?

Found article that says mostly bones found and body estimated to have been there 6 months or more. Also read volleyball camps are common in the park or general area.

Could this UID have found the jacket at the park .... It may have been accidentally left behind at a sport activity.... And was "borrowing" it?

It would be hard to imagine a coach/teacher/etc. Not having a BOLO
out searching for them if they went missing...

All... JMO...

That might be a possibility. I agree that if it is a Coach Williams, it is unusual that no one has reported her missing.

May have gotten the jacket from a thrift/second-hand store, or even a clothing bin she was homeless...

That far back in her mouth, it's quite likely nobody would have noticed it even if the whole thing was gold.

I'm not a dentist, but it sounds to me like she had a missing or defective #17 molar and the wisdom tooth was allowed to come in to make a brace for the bridge.

This article has pictures of the clothing: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/remains-605756-county-orange.html

It's quite badly decayed and hard to make out anything beyond that it appears to be a dark color with white printing. I can't even see the coach's name on the left side. There's no mention of any kind of team, league, or high school affiliation.

Wearing a windbreaker, yoga pants, and a t-shirt, she's certainly dressed appropriately to have been coaching a sporting event.
