Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found along the 60 Freeway near the 605 interchange in the unincorporated community of Bassett on Monday morning, authorities said.

The discovery was made around 9 a.m. on the dirt shoulder of the eastbound 60, near the transition to the northbound 605, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A passerby called the California Highway Patrol after observing apparent human remains on the side of the freeway, a sheriff’s news release stated.

Because of the “partially concealed condition” of the body, investigators were not immediately able to determine a gender, race or age, according to the release.

What's up with Bassett, CA today? Yet another body discovered. I wonder who is missing from the area. (I don't know how to make a new thread.) I was looking into this thread and found this link.

Human remains found at trash processing facility in Bassett
BASSETT, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after human remains were found Monday night at a trash processing facility in Bassett, an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County.

Authorities say the remains were discovered by an employee who was sorting trash on a conveyer belt at Athens Services on the 14000 block of Valley Boulevard.

The remains appear to be a female, investigators say, but the identification and cause of death will be determined by a coroner.

Well that explains it. Not that a big city like LA wouldn't find more than one body a day but I just overlooked the date. Thank you!!

"The reporting party discovered the remains on the dirt shoulder near the unincorporated area of Bassett, just west of West Covina."

Looking at the area described, I can see a body of water that may be a canal or river. The San Jose Water Reclamation plant is there and so is the Sanitation District of LA County. Not sure if the body would have originated from either of those but it is noteworthy.
