CA CA - Rico Harris, 37, Former Harlem Globetrotter, Yolo County, 10 Oct 2014

I have a noticed some new UID that have been located in WA and CA that they haven't said what sex they were. Does anyone know how long it takes for ME to determine?

I may be a little late to this case, as I just started listening to a new podcast, and they covered this. This whole story strikes me as weird. I think, personally, that he was on drugs again, and possibly "ran away" so to speak... He could have been taken, yes, but I also think that maybe he left to go to another country? Seems weird to me that he just obtained a CA license, and then it was in the car. Nothing was mesy, Everything was too clean.

Former Harlem Globetrotter Rico Omarr Harris was in the middle of a big life move from California to Oregon in the fall of 2014. He was traveling to visit his girlfriend in Seattle when, on October 10, he mysteriously disappeared. Rico, then 37, was last seen leaving the home that he shared with his mother in Alhambra, California. Three days later, his vehicle was found in the Yolo County Regional Park area near Rumsey, California, about 450 miles north of Alhambra. His wallet, cellphone and backpack were all located nearby. Police say they receive about one lead per month related to the case, but none so far has led to a break.

Was his items found as if they had been tossed or just laid down? Someone his size had to have been seen by someone.

I harped on the question of size also. I also mentioned that the fact he was a African-American among Caucasians would also make him conspicuous among the pale farm population in the Capay Valley. That remark got tagged as racist--even if true.

The sources make it sound as though Rico set his pack down and walked away from it.

Question? I may be in the wrong area, but isn't there an area of California that has drug crops. On some other threads, there was mention of people going missing and that maybe due to them getting to close to those farms. Did the area he went missing in near any of those spots?

I am partial African American myself, and I agree wholeheartedly with your comment, although I do understand the mods needing to keep everything clean here. They do a great job. Interesting to hear about the marijuana cultivation in this area. Reminds me a bit of the Roden family, with such a large scale operation, money brings out the worst in some people. Hmm? And I recall the sources implying that the bag was found as though he simply sat it there and walked away, as well. Or perhaps it was placed that way by someone to imply that he did so?

It is indeed a touchy era when it comes to writing about race. Speaking personally, skin color is immaterial. Unfortunately, it isn't immaterial to most Americans; I found it ironic that such a noxious belief might serve to locate Rico.

I am not familiar with the Roden family case. However, illicit marijuana cultivation has sustained northern California's economy for several decades now. About 40 percent of our homicides up here are related to the marijuana black market.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that a casino is close to where Rico was last known to be. How close? Do we know if LE has visited the casino and reviewed cameras?

** I hope I did this right but I've never posted an article before. This story just really hits home to me. I grew up in Reno, NV & spent a lot of time in Yolo County. Just recently moved down south. I'm also a recovering addict & my drug of choice was also Meth. ***

Hoping you’re still active on here....can you enlighten us more on the area he was last seen in, since you spent a lot of time there? Perhaps the circles you ran in back then know of Rico?
