ISLETON, Calif. (KCRA) — A body was found in the Mokelumne River by a fisherman in the delta city of Isleton Sunday morning, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 9:30 a.m., an officer said a 911 caller told them that they saw a fisherman pulling a bag from the water off Brannan Island Road, near the Lighthouse Bar and Grill.

Investigators discovered human remains inside the bag, officers said.
Hampton said it's unclear how long the body has been in the water, and at this time has not been tied to any specific missing person case. Divers from the Drowning Accident Response Team (DART) assisted homicide detectives at the scene to search for additional evidence.

It's unclear if the body is a male or a female. The identity and cause of death will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner.

The call was made from the 100 block of Brannon Island Road at about 9:30 a.m., according to a department press release. The department said it does not yet have any information on the age, race or sex of the victim in the case or many other details.

"There's a lot we don't know yet and stuff we can't release" because of the ongoing investigation, Hampton said.

While there is little information thus far regarding the remains, Hampton reports they were in different stages of decomposition.

The part about different stages of decomp made me wonder if this was more than one victim killed at different times. :scared:

Hoping that was just poorly worded by the reporter.

Yeah, I'm with you about hoping it's just poor wording. And also where it sounds like whoever found the bag didn't report it. I assume they meant there were two people, and one person pulled the bag out while the other one made the call.

The fisherman might have been in shock or perhaps he didn't have a cell phone on him and asked the other person to call. If I ever found a decomposing body, I would probably have to spend some time throwing up before collecting myself enough to call 911. JMO.

ETA: The LEO spokesman did say this:

“From what I understand, the fisherman was certainly shocked, as well as others in the area,” said Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Shaun Hampton. “Not something we come across often.”

So I'm going with they didn't mean to make it sound like the fisherman found it and didn't do anything about it.

My betting money is on the body parts belonging to an out of luck methhead.

[h=1]Human remains found in the Sacramento Delta are not those of a Concord man[/h]
Human remains found in the Sacramento Delta are not those of a Concord man, a huge relief to the friends and family of David Kempker, 27, who has been missing since March 12.

Dismembered body parts, in a plastic bag, were found by a fisherman in the Mokelumne River on Sunday.
The Sacramento Sheriff's Dept. is investigating the discovery as a homicide.

Skulls are notorious for going first; limbs tend to last a bit longer.

I don't want to get hopes up again, and this be another Lodi or Antioch case.

The victim is described at a Caucasian or light-skinned Hispanic woman, believed to have been between 35 and 40 years old, with shoulder-length brown or auburn hair.

Detectives say the woman would have been somewhere between 5'2" and 5'6" and had double ear piercings in each ear, however no earrings were found when she was discovered. She also has a noticeable gap between her front teeth.

The woman may have gone missing sometime within the last month.

Jenn Moore is 41 with strawberry blonde hair, no gap in teeth and no piercings.

She actually does have a big gap in between her front teeth on the top row where she wears a partial, it appears. I have seen a missing poster picture of her where she wasn't wearing the partial.

Noticeable gap usually refers to space between existing teeth (I think the proper term is "diastima"), not to missing teeth. Missing teeth are usually just called "missing."

It's probably worth following up on anyway.

I figured as much but I just thought I would point it out. it's not between her two front teeth either but it is the next tooth over. Here is the picture I saw: https://oag.ca.gov/missing/person/jennifer-coleen-moore
I also read in one of the local newspapers that the victim was between 25-40 and had shoulder-length "auburn or brown hair" and in one of the pictures she has shoulder-length auburn hair. Here is that article: http://www.kcra.com/article/investi...oman-whose-body-was-found-in-isleton/19813567

Hm. Yeah, I guess that might be called a gap. She definitely looks possible.

I think this lady is not reported missing and may be a victim of DV. Their saying she may have gone missing in the last month leads me to believe the body has been dead a month or less. Jennifer could certainly have gone missing but been alive until a month or less ago, though.
