Last known to be in El Paso, but know he may well be somewhere other than Texas (possibly another state) but that Mexico is probably most likely.

He has contacts there, has been there before, and speaks Spanish, and emphasized it'd be easy for him.

Said they're not sure what his "never be seen again" comment means:

I think it should probably mean "COULD not say" (about the passport, etc.) based on what he actually seems to have said:
If his intent when leaving Los Angeles was to flee into Mexico he would likely not want to have his passport and/or credit cards He would be trying to lay low and remain anonymous and not use anything that could be traced to his location.

MOO

The haunting last image of Henry Solis in the United States was taken by a security camera at the El Paso-Ciudad Juarez border. It shows the rookie Los Angeles police officer, dressed in blue jeans and a brown leather jacket, looking up at the camera as his father escorts him into Mexico...

Now, as police hunt for the fugitive, friends and family are left trying to understand how a young man who served as a Marine in Iraq and spoke excitedly about patrolling the streets of Los Angeles could be a murder suspect on the run. They remember a charming, clean-cut man who politely addressed women at bars as "miss" and had little sympathy for cops who broke their oath.

Even authorities are struck by the contradictions.

A man convicted of lying to FBI agents about the whereabouts of his son, who was wanted in Southern California in connection with a fatal shooting, was sentenced to three years of probation today.

Victor Manuel Solis, 53, was found guilty in June of providing false statements to FBI agents who questioned him about his son, Henry Solis, according to court records.

His father really got lucky.

A preliminary hearing was held Wednesday to help a judge determine if there are grounds for a former Los Angeles Police Department officer to stand trial for the shooting death of a man that occurred in Pomona...

Solis has been charged with one count each of murder and assault with a firearm along with an allegation that he personally discharged a handgun.

He is currently being held in lieu of $10 million bail.
