A Santa Barbara County sheriff's helicopter spotted the wreckage of a white Chevy pick-up truck off Highway 154 at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The truck was spotted about 300 feet over the side of Painted Cave Road in very dense brush. California Highway Patrol officers on scene tell NewsChannel 3 they discovered human remains inside the truck. Kelly Hoover with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department told NewsChannel 3 it appears the truck has been there a while and is registered to a person from Santa Barbara who went missing in March 2012.

Yeah, I suspect that's the case. Thanks for posting him -- I was still looking for his thread.

edited to add: I thought Goodwin had a thread here on WS, but I can't find it.

Says a silver Chevy which could probably look white from the air. I'm glad his family will finally have some closure.

wow. I know that road. We pulled off onto that road recently to have a picnic on the way to BINGO aT Club Chumash Casino. The highway ios very well traveled but the side roads are pretty remote.

There is at least one misprint in the NAMUS. It's listed as a Chevy 210. The 210 was only made for 4 years in the 1950s and it wasn't a truck, it was a sexy finned chevy, the kind you think of when you think of cars in mint green and white with fins.

I suspect they meant a Chevy S-10. The 2005 S-10 came in white and fine silver birch (which is VERY light)
