Newest Update I could find. Video
Preliminary evidence is showing 15 yr-old Savannah Graziano was a participant in the shooting.
Sounds like the investigation is not done. I'm going to need a bit more then this.
Sheriff from above link.

"I would like to take this time to provide an update on yesterday's deputy involved shooting in Hesperia. Our specialised detectives processed the scene throughout the night and provided me a briefing this morning. Based on the information, evidence suggests that Savannah Graziano was a participant in shooting at our deputies. However, based on the totality of events and the requirements of Assembly Bill 1506, I have consulted with the California Department of Justice about assuming the primary role for this investigation. If in fact the requirements for a B1506 are met and they take the lead, any additional updates will be released by Cal DOJ."

At the end of the day this was a horrible situation caused by the father.
Imagine being in the thick of a situation where you are being shot at, by a man who already gunned down his wife. Bullets are flying back and forth. It’s pretty easy to see how she could have been shot.
Second scenario, shootout, know murderer, bullets flying , someone comes running toward you. It’s not like you have time to ask for ID. I can understand how she could have been shot in this scenario, especially since the father was a small guy.
I’m willing to bet every officer involved has been questioning themselves. Not one of them went to the scene just to kill everyone.

Anthony Graziano had moved out of the family’s home a month or two before the killing, as the couple went through a divorce, Fontana Sgt. Christian Surgent told The Associated Press. Savannah Graziano left with her father, while her younger brother stayed with their mother.

Law enforcement located the pickup and chased it on the highway to Hesperia. Throughout the pursuit, Graziano was “constantly shooting back at the deputies” with a rifle through the truck’s rear window, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said Tuesday during a news conference.

Dicus said there were “some indications” Savannah was shooting at deputies during the chase but didn’t provide any details.

A firefight in Hesperia ensued when the truck went off-road and somehow became disabled, with dozens of bullets flying. Savannah ran toward deputies — who did not realize it was her — in the chaos and went down amid the gunfire. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before noon.

A man who was accused of killing his estranged wife in Fontana and abducting their 15-year-old daughter had been living with the teenager out of his pickup truck and hotels for weeks before the violence, authorities said Wednesday.
More at link.
i feel as if she was parental alienated (brainwashed) by dad... how is it stable to have your child living out of motels and a truck, and what kid would want that.. a brainwashed one. pas is so complex. he prob convinced her it was them against the world.

I'm going off my own post because I'm trying to clarify this in my head. Originally she was reported as "abducted", now it's being reported she was with the dad for a month or 2. I'm still not going to place blame on her since I honestly believe the dad caused all of this and she was misguided but there is a younger sibling, was the mom taking him to school and he witnessed this whole thing?( seeing as the shooting was near an elementary school?) My heart sinks will all of this.
it said he was inside of his house. i wonder if they lived on that street? why was mom walking? for exercise perhaps? maybe he called her to come out and talk?

at least for sure DOJ is taking over - from link -

"As troubling questions emerged following the shootout Tuesday, the state’s attorney general said Wednesday evening that the California Department of Justice will take over the investigation from local law enforcement and conduct an independent probe into the chain of events that led to the deadly encounter."

It’s not clear whether she was abducted by her father, as she had been living with him after their parents split up.

A lot to sort out in this tragedy :(
i still feel the amber alert was appropriate. he was clearly a danger and she is now deceased. I have lived through PAS. it is complex and malicious. i feel thats what occurred here.

A tragic situation but definitely dad is to blame.

Why was she living with her dad? Isn’t it more typical for a girl of her age to live with her mother?

Law enforcement located the pickup and chased it on the highway to Hesperia. Throughout the pursuit, Graziano was “constantly shooting back at the deputies” with a rifle through the truck’s rear window, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said Tuesday during a news conference.

She likely was shooting at them. If dad was behind the wheel driving, it would be harder for him to be shooting at LE following behind.

This is such a tragic situation by a narcissistic horrible man. This poor teen girl was caught up in his world and likely believed the stories he told.

So very, very sad. He is 100% to blame - if he truly loved this girl, he would not have taken her with him in such a dangerous situation!

I really have an issue with saying that Savannah was to blame in some way.
She was a kid, and while I can't say that she DIDN"T pull the trigger, I kind of wish that LE would not vilify her without showing the public something to connect her to it.
My mother was a Fontana PD officer for several years, it has been quite a long time and I am sure that most of the men and women that I knew back in the 80's and 90"s are retired by now. They were a second family to me and I had great love and respect for them.
I am just unsure of how this story is currently unfolding at the moment.

I don’t think it’s as much a matter of blaming Savannah. I think LE is trying to get at the truth, while showing it wasn’t a case of “bad cops”. Let’s be honest, every LE involved shooting has people screaming, and accusing the officers. To me it doesn’t really matter who fired and hit her. It’s not like killing her was the goal. It’s a horrible, tragic situation brought about by an adult male who was supposed to love and protect her.
My heart is with her family and friends who loved her, and every officer on the scene.

It does matter.
It matters a lot for LE especially considering just how much scrutiny officers are under these days.
If she was running to them, with no weapon , she likely was trying to get to safety.
And of course- ultimately her father is the blame.
I just feel uneasy about how things are coming out to the public.
That's all.

probably due to pas.... was a daddys girl. ca tends to favor joint custody, but they were only in the process so daughter may have left w him when he left the home.

my adult sd lived w her dad from like age 7 until she turned 18.

If it is true that she was wearing body armor and a helmet when she ran toward them they might not have realized she wasn’t a threat. I am sure it was a chaotic scene.

I agree that, with the info known at the time, the Amber Alert was the right call. Witnesses saw the mom being shot and Samantha entering the truck. They had a description of the car, the father, and reason to believe Samantha was in danger and for the public to be on the lookout.

Also, PAS - parental alienation syndrome, correct?

yes, parental alienation syndrome.

although i read today, that savanna was not there and he left to pick her up from wherever she was located after the shooting of her mom. also her mom got in the truck w him, argument ensued and she exited the truck and he then chased her and shot her.
