The Nevada County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help in locating Stanley Owen Norman (70, out of Lake of the Pines). Stanley's last known location was a residence near the Stagecoach Motel in Grass Valley, in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 15, 2018. Stanley was supposed to meet up with friends for breakfast on Sunday morning; however, he never arrived and has not been seen or heard from since.

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office first received report of Stanley's disappearance on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Stanley's cellular phone records indicate he may have traveled towards Colfax, CA but the phone disconnected from the network and has not been active since Monday, April 16, 2018. Stanley's banking activity has ceased.

Since his reported disappearance, the California Highway Patrol Air Operations Division out of Auburn, CA has assisted by flying the general areas in which Stanley's cellular telephone may have been able to access the last known cell tower, but the cellular records were unable to pinpoint a location. Deputies from our agency have patrolled and searched along State Route 174 from Grass Valley to Colfax with no further leads being developed.

Our agency has received a reported sighting of Stanley at the "Red Frog" bar on State Route 174 outside of Colfax; however, review of video surveillance did not support this report and none of the bartenders recall seeing Stanley there.

Stanley is 6'01" tall, approximately 300lbs, with grey hair and brown eyes. Stanley is last known to be driving a Silver, 2006, Hummer "H2" with disabled plates and military stickers in the rear window. Stanley is believed to be in the company of a brown toy poodle named "Cocoa".

A Silver Alert has been broadcast by the California Highway Patrol.

We understand Stanley's friends and family have organized search efforts along the Highway 174 corridor, between Grass Valley and Colfax but, to date, no further leads have been discovered.

The investigation into Stanley's disappearance is ongoing and anyone who has relevant information is encouraged to call the Nevada County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit at (530)265-1263.

Please share this post and encourage your friends to share this post as well.

Friends of Norman, a 70-year-old Army veteran who was recently staying with a friend in Grass Valley, first reported him missing after he failed to show up to a brunch on April 16th.

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Norman’s disappearance, and an active search for him is underway.

Had been in McGee's bar, among others in the area of Nevada city, with person named Sean Bryant AKA "DJ Powers." Mr bryant said he drove Stan in Stan's Hummer H2 back to his (Sean's) office and when he woke up, Stan (and his Hummer) were gone. He had an apricot toy poodle with him named Koko.

MSM info:

Two extensive multi-agency searches were conducted Saturday and Tuesday for a missing Vietnam veteran after his vehicle was located in the Chalk Bluff area. But searchers found no sign of Stan Norman, or his toy apricot poodle KoKo. Authorities now are calling his disappearance "suspicious."

It almost seems like he took KoKo for a poddy walk and they got lost.

Family Still Searching for Missing Veteran

GRASS VALLEY -- Stan Norman was last seen April 15th in Grass Valley. Nearly one month later, he is still MIA but the family is not losing hope.

We’re all hoping for a happy ending in this missing person case. Stan’s son tells FOX40 he talked to his dad regularly and it is unlike him to be out of contact with family. His son says their focus is to find Stan and bring him home.

Through tears, Kamalama Kaluhiokalani, Stan’s son said, “I just miss the big guy.”

A vigil will be held for Stan May 18th at 8p.m. at the veteran memorial area of Memorial Park in Grass Valley. A Go Fund Me account is set up to help with future search efforts as well as a reward for information in his disappearance.

More prospective evidence — charred human remains buried in a shallow grave — have been unearthed by investigators working on the case of a Lake of the Pines man they believe was murdered in April.
Sean Bryant, 51, and Michael McCauley, 41, are behind bars and facing murder and torture charges in connection with Norman’s death. Brant was arrested May 27 after the bones were discovered in the burn pile. McCauley was arrested June 1.

Murder trial postponed: No new date set for Sean Bryant, Michael McCauley

The trial of two men accused in the 2018 slaying of 70-year-old Stan Norman has been vacated yet again and will not take place this month, attorneys say.

On Wednesday, Nevada County Superior Court Judge Robert Tice-Raskin granted a motion of continuance filed by a defense attorney for one of the accused men. The decision means that the trial, which was previously set to start this coming Wednesday after already being delayed on five separate occasions, will not take place this month.

No new trial date has been set.
