for some reason, a case that i saw on ID the other day just popped into my mind. there was a murder and rape that was committed by a man who's older brother committed almost the exact same crime (right down to the number of times the victim was stabbed - near 100). the younger brother was 8 at the time his brother committed his crime. for years afterward, the younger brother got into trouble for small things, and then all of a sudden, he committed the crime so similar to his brother. they think he did it to try to show that he was smarter than his older brother. it took a very long time to convict him because he was pretty smart & knew what LE would be doing to try to "trap" him into confessing. anyway - it makes me wonder if these 2 perps in this case might be brothers? one teaching the other? maybe the 18 year old (or both) has/have family ties to someone who has done something like this before?

one more thing...

i really see this as being some sort of experiment... trying to get their feet wet. i just hope they're caught before it happens again. i dunno if they'd be so willing to have their victim give out so many details again. i'm sure the protection on this sweet girl is due to the fact that she has given so many details... if (and when) the perps are caught, they know where she lives, and even sleeps, and how to get into her house. if they wanted to get revenge, they know where to go. i hope LE doesn't let down their guard on this one and keeps a watch on her and her home until these two are handcuffed and in a prison jumpsuit. please let this be soon!!!

I keep hoping that the reason LE is not giving out a description is because our girl gave great details and they've already identified the suspects themselves. I'd rather they have an air-tight case against these animals and take whatever care and time they need to ensure the harshest punishment under the law.

I think she was dazed and confused upon being found, not because she was drugged, but because the poor thing was in a physical state of shock (as reported by LE).

I REALLY hope it's this!

You know what, I kinda had the same thought, but was wondering if it was father teaching son.

The aunt's child was kidnapped a few years ago, could this be connected?

A very odd coincidence! There are many online articles describing how our sweet girl's two uncles abducted their own sons and were missing for two years. Here is a link to one of many articles: http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/11/07/netherlands.children.found/index.html

I came here to see what you all thought and was surprised there were only two posts about this. Because I read a report yesterday that the police are investigating a connection- like retaliation.

The abduction of the three cousins was featured on Websleuths. They were taken to several different countries and ultimately found in Amsterdam.

The Silah brothers (the abducting fathers) had mafia connections and were very shady: http://silahboys.blogspot.com/?m=1

seems like a lot of us have red-headed daughters and that's bringing a lot of us here to this thread. I've counted 3 of us so far. how many have red-heads?
and so much for redheads going extinct! that report was just bad statistical science anyway.

I have one and the hair was a total surprise. I swear I get asked "Where did that hair come from?!" daily. I've looked into it a tiny bit and its pretty interesting stuff. Basically its caused when a person has 2 copies of a certain recessive gene, Here's the wiki on it:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_hair#section_2

She's absolutely gorgeous and gets near constant compliments on her beautiful hair but I have to say I'm still worried about school taunts. There is so much bullying associated with red hair (remember the whole kick a ginger day thing?). Anyone with older redheaded kids here? I'd love to hear your experiences! If anyone is curious let me know and I'll message you a picture.

Red hair is like liquid fire. It's rare and gorgeous. Anyone who makes fun of it must be jealous.

Ours is older, now. We also got the 'where'd that red hair come from?' almost daily. Brilliant, deep red, and wavy to boot; she could be a Breck girl. We heard it's recessive and also comes through the family tree diagonally--if that makes any sense. We blame red-haired aunts on each side. ;)

The red hair never caused a bullying problem per se, though she also inherited a rare juvenile illness associated (statistically) with the fair hair/blue eyes. Caused a bit of 'different-ness' and picking on in grade school, maybe, but the disease has been in remission now for years. Now our biggest problem is fending off the boys.

I thought the possible connection was interesting (as this victim is related). But the whys & hows are very perplexing. Also, it's mentioned in this article (posted previously) in which the attorney denies the brothers' involvement. But, I don't know if I would take his word or not.

""The Silah brothers had absolutely nothing to do with this. They have had no contact with their former wives. They're not even permitted to."

"It's not them", he said."

Yeah, I wouldn't take the word of two criminals' defense attorney!

You know, when I first heard about the connection, I discounted their involvement. But after reading yesterday that the police are looking into it, that the two brothers have mafia connections and that they were just released from prison a few months ago, I started to think.

Parents who abduct their kids are a vindictive, evil lot. I can see these two being even more vindictive than most - feeling entitled and furious that their precious sons were given back to their ex wives and then they were imprisoned for a couple of years to boot!!!

when I get the question about where the red hair came from, I say "the mailman".

Any locals know if this will be on TV? There aren't any newscasts scheduled for 3. Everything in SoCal is breaking news so hopefully they'll interrupt whatever's on.
