FRENCH CAMP (CBS13) ― San Joaquin County detectives are working to identify the victim of an apparent murder.

The body of a woman was found this morning on Matthews Road near French Camp.

Officers say there are signs she was the victim of violence so they're treating it as a murder case.

The woman, who appeared to be middle-aged, was partially clothed and had suffered obvious injuries, said Deputy Les Garcia, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The woman has not been positively identified and a specific cause of death is pending an autopsy, Garcia said. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

I bet her family doesn't even know she is missing yet. Or, her SO hasn't reported it. Sorry, we get so accustomed to these horrible murders that we can almost see the pattern. Love to be wrong but it rings familiar. I can hear him say "She ran off with another man". Thanks for the update and maybe we will learn more by tomorrow.

Very well could be concerned :( The second report says she hasn't been "postively ID'd" so I wonder if there's a tentative ID??

The woman, who was in her 30s, was partially clothed and had suffered obvious injuries, said Deputy Les Garcia, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

The Sheriff's Office has identified the woman but is not releasing her name pending notification of her family. Garcia could not provide the woman's exact age or city of residence Friday evening.
