California To Post Names Of Tax Cheats Online
SACRAMENTO (AP) ― State tax agents are posting the names of delinquents online as part of a statewide crack down on tax cheats and delinquent taxpayers.
Officials say more than 750,000 Californians owe billions of dollars in unpaid taxes in the year 2006 alone. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has also proposed hiring 500 new tax collectors and investigators to track down unpaid taxes.
The Franchise Tax Board estimates the state is owed $6.5 billion dollars in unpaid taxes.
