Wonder if they ever did a physical search for him?

I'd also like to know WHO led LE to believe he was somewhere else? May have been a redherring to throw LE off. That could be the person who MAY know what happened to him.

I'll see if I can't find an update on these remains. Human remains were found in Scarborough May 7, 2010, as well, which is also of interest in this case.

ETA: As far as I can tell, there has been no identification made on the Woolwich remains as of yet.

Thanks Whyaduck for bringing this case to our attention as I had not heard of Sandy Abt's disappearance until now.

Hope and awareness: Musical event draws attention to missing persons

    [snip]

Waterloo regional police list five missing people on their website, including Tasha Smith, but Linda Smith said she only has permission from families to profile four of these people at her event.

The other four local missing people on the police website are:

    • Alexander Bryon Abt, known as Sandy, has been missing since Oct. 7, 2008. The 44-year-old Puslinch Township man was last seen working at Schneider’s Refinishing on Forwell Road in Kitchener.
