A walk in the woods unearthed a grisly discovery this holiday weekend.
Human remains were found by someone walking through the woods near Horseshoe Valley Rd. and the 6th Line of Oro-Medonte Township, just north of Barrie, just after 8 a.m. Saturday.
OPP Const. Peter Leon said an autopsy of the remains will be conducted Sunday in Toronto at the Centre for Forensic Science.

Provincial police are saddled with the task trying to solve the mystery of two bodies found on the same day, miles apart.
An area resident made the first discovery while walking just after 8 a.m. Saturday in the Sugar Bush subdivision off Horseshoe Valley Road, near the 6th Line of Oro-Medonte Township.

Police are not speculating upon whether there may be a connection between the two.
After determining the first discovery was that of a human, OPP called in several teams, including the criminal investigation branch, the Barrie OPP crime unit, forensic identification unit, emergency response and the OPP SAVE (snowmobile, ATV and vessel enforcement) team.

The body appears to be male, based on the comments in this article. And, if the people who found the body could tell that it was male, it means that it couldn't have been there all winter. There has been a lot of warm weather this spring in that part of the province.

The fact that both portions of the body were found on the same day, imply that they were just quickly dumped out of a vehicle, without much attempt to hide them.

I just googled the 2 approximate locations. They are 123 km apart, and approximately 1 hour 40 minutes drive. Both dumping sites are about 15 - 20 km off Hwy 11 in semi-isolated locations.

    http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=6+line+n,+oro-medonte,+simcoe+county,+ontario+l0l+2x0+to+maplehurst+dr,+lake+of+bays&sll=49.894634,-89.208984&sspn=32.341945,67.851563&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=9

Since the body was recognizable as a male and it doesn't sound like it was buried, the death must have been fairly recent.

Thanks for starting this thread. This case is very, very strange. The body is thought to have been dumped at the sites on Friday night or Saturday morning. The person or persons involved may have wanted the body to be discovered and the entire body hasn't been discovered yet.

Body parts of a white man were found Saturday in Oro-Medonte and Lake of Bays Townships in Ontario. Provincial police Const. Peter Leon said the remains were dumped either late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Police haven't been able to identify the victim of the "horrific crime" because some parts of the body are missing, Leon said.

"This individual was dismembered, a very violent type of a death

Since she is not unidentified, missing, or a cold case, the thread would have to be set up in the Current Events Section.

Body parts still out there: OPP

This is a horrid story! :(
Reading between the lines, I'm under the impression (and this is JMO) that LE is asking for the public's help because they are missing the most important body part for dental identification purposes. MOO and I hope I'm wrong, and also hope LE (and not an unsuspecting passerby) can soon find what is still missing.

I agree that with you that the police do not have remains to identify through dental records. Going by the map of the location of the remains, I wouldn't be surprised if more remains are discovered off of highway 60 East towards the Quebec border. I'm sorry, but I really think this guy is the Montreal gangster. JMO. His body is not hidden and obviously the perp(s) wanted him to be discovered in pieces. JMO

But why dump the body parts in central Ontario? Seems to me that the dumpers seem to know this part of Ontario, to a certain extent. The Horseshoe Valley Rd area site, in particular, is a bit further afield from just doing a swing along 401/11/60. That would be a lesser known recreational area to out-of-provincers than Muskoka I would think. JMO.

    Definitely a mystery.

What about bikers? Are they known to 'publicize' their victims to make a statement? There are a lot of biker gangs in Ontario.

I'm not sure why chose to dump parts in Ontario. I forgot to mention that another reason I think it could be the gangster from Montreal is because he went missing on the Thursday before the body parts were found on the Saturday, May 22nd. The remains were 'fresh' and were estimated to have been dumped either on the Friday night or early Saturday morning. I have to search for the links but I think they may have already been posted on this thread, have to check. I also agree that it could be a biker thing. JMO
