If my theory of overseas professional assassins, is valid, we can expect very little information from TPS or other official sources. There is very likely very little direct evidence that will give TPS any solid leads. Possibly they have some 'subjects' they are surveilling with the hope of a 'break' in the case.

The lack of a reward being offered could point to the fact TPS has a pretty good idea who and how the crimes were committed but do not have enough evidence or the jurisdictional ability to lay charges.

A reward would only bring in false leads and tips.

Here is a variation on my theory that might be plausible.

A bad guy escapes to Canada from Country 'A' after stealing a great deal of money from the Government of Country 'A'.
Country 'A' has the death penalty and no extradition treaty with Canada. Canada will not send the bad guy back to Country 'A'.
Country 'A' decides to send a message to Canada. We will assassinate a prominent, politically-connected couple if you do not return the bad guy. Canada does not return the bad guy.

Result kinda makes sense, doesn't it.
You’re joking....right?!?!

Reporter Joe Warmington of the Toronto Sun doesn't sound too happy about tight-lipped TPS who didn't give an update on the sixth anniversary of the deaths today.

But Greenspan sounds more positive, and is still on the case. No snide comments about the money he is earning okay? haha

“We are actively engaged in our investigation,” legendary lawyer Brian Greenspan said, on behalf of the four Sherman children. “This is unequivocally a double homicide.”

“This is unequivocally a double homicide.”
Interesting; Greenspin had to say it!!!!

Where were they both, BS and H, pulling in the same direction and had both equally "deserved"*, to be killed in a demonstrative way?
Re all Non-family-members they seemed independent from each other in the sense, they couldn't have both hurt the same person/group.

* There is no single reason for "deserving" one's death.

That is the thinking that will solve this. Getting into the mindset and psychology of the murderer, of not only why both but why not one, and why at the home, the high risk involved with more than one going wrong, why then as opposed to say a year before, and why it was important to not leave this looking on the face of it like double murder.

IMO.

If the Iranians had something to do with the "murders"and are so good at assasinating people, why did they just not kill Mr Khavari and /or members of his family to send a message. Why kill the Shermans?

Maybe Iran wants to get him back alive to Iran to face trial or punishment. As only they know how to deliver it. Who knows why the Canadian government is not acting in his case. Maybe the Sherman killing may have been meant to send some message to him. Or to the cdn government. Or perhaps to Mr. Mizrahi, the developer of one Bloor st. The more you read about him the uglier this becomes.

The reason Canada isn’t sending him back to Iran is because there’s no extradition agreement with Iran. Quite the contrary, Canada welcomes refugees from Iran claiming asylum.

It also appears, judging by news reports over time, this country is so delighted to encourage development that it’s willing to turn a blind eye to funds from questionable sources, a recent example, Mike Niu.

Barry Sherman didn’t personally invest capital, a limited company he was a shareholder of holds a 2nd mortgage. The registered mortgage is not impacted by his death whatsoever as it’s held by a separate legal entity. So I’m just not seeing any message and especially why any Iranians would involve Mrs Sherman, making any message quite difficult to decider.

I think the idea that someone felt both Honey and Barry deserved to be killed, and that is how you will identify the perpetrators is mistaken. Often spouses are coincidentally killed to eliminate a witness, help in the cover-up, to send a message or just for expediency.

Things we know,

-Political unrest in Iran.
-Iran wants to be seen by its people back in Iran as a fair and just Islamic society.
-Assassinating the alleged criminal in Canada will not have politically powerful impact at home in Iran.
-Iran wants its alleged criminal back.
-The Liberal Federal government will not return him.

-The alleged criminal may have reasons to feel that he was defrauded by Barry.

-Barry and Honey might be perceived as Zionists by both Iran and the alleged criminal.
-Shermans were strong supporters of Israel, the sworn enemy of Iran.

The mortgage isn’t impacted, but it was Barrys money that funded the loan. The message could be for other potential lenders or investors- don’t finance this development or these individuals. As for the cdn govt, it has been alleged that Khavari has broken Canadian anti terrorism laws and yet the Canadian government does nothing. Evidently his location varies between Toronto and Latin America, but Canada can’t seem to find him. Interesting, especially since tps can’t find the Sherman’s killer either.

It’s not that the Liberal government refuses to deport him because Iran wants him. It’s that Canada has no legal authority to ship him out on Iran’s say so because Canada has no extradition treaty with Iran, neither does the US for that matter. There’s reasons for that and I don’t see it changing in the near future, given such things as human rights abuses and nuclear weapons. Yes it’s a fact that criminals may seek out Canada as a safe haven but they do so legally, it’s not a political conspiracy.

When murders are committed to send a message in support of a rebel, political or religious cause, one of the factors that always plays out is the organization or entity responsible is eager to take public credit. That’s to ensure the message is clearly understood.

Although Shermans were wealthy by Canadian standards and have donated to Canadian organizations, as far as the Middle East religious conflict, they wouldn’t even register a blip. JMO

We don’t know who’s money funded the loan without having a look at the corporate documents and determining who the actual shareholders were.

What Canadian anti-terrorism laws do you think were broken?

Would have been much easier to kill Barry that night in the parking lot as he

Iran's mystery banker in Canada
There are a bunch of articles available that highlight all the alleged crimes or offences committed by this guy. The JP refers to him allegedly funding terrorism.

The shareholders are Westdale Construction, and a company controlled by Barry sherman. The company advanced $61 million to the development company at an annual interest rate of 13%.

There are blatant ways to kill a target to send a warning message, and imo most victims are executed quickly and efficiently. Being shot in the head as they leave work or home has largely replaced being blown up when they start their car. Recent hits have become more brazen whereby a well known Toronto target was shot while dining inside a restaurant. Another high profile Canadian (and his wife) was killed while on vacation in another country.

I feel that the Sherman murders were a crime of passion, a result of the killer's personal rage. It was up close and hands on ligature neck compressions. That is normally considered personal. They were killed by someone who (probably had help) had a personal grudge and truly hated them. If the killer didn't hate Honey, he was willing to make her a victim to torture Barry. The Shermans suffered a brutally cruel and horrid death that goes beyond sending a message for non personal reasons. To add insult to injury, the crime scene was staged to look like BS killed his wife and then committed suicide like a despicable, twisted coward. I'm getting pretty dramatic here, so I'll end by saying MOO.

Unless someone has been officially named a POI or suspect in this case, do not sleuth them and/or make accusations against them or suggest their involvement. You may discuss what is contained in MSM in relation to the case itself:

Please review The Rules: Etiquette & Information

VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to the family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, and others who have not been designated as suspects is not allowed. Don't make random accusations, suggest their involvement, nor bash and attack them. Posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public -- is not allowed. That does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media.
