CANADA Canada- Chelsea Davidenas, 29, ''family believe she may have been taken against her will & in danger'', Calgary, AB, 17 February 2024

I wonder if the perps were known to the police? Sad news.

At least one perp was known to Police, per CBC link above, also the victims connection.

On March 6, CPS posted an appeal on its social media accounts, asking for the public's help in finding Zwick, who was wanted at the time on weapons, drugs and failure to comply charges.

The victim's stepfather reposted that CPS appeal to his personal Facebook account, saying Zwick "may have information as to the whereabouts of Chelsea."

''While the remains of Davidenas have not been found, police say one of the men accused of her murder is trying to help investigators locate her body but is struggling to remember the exact location.

The other man was not involved in that aspect of the crime, according to police.

Investigators believe Davidenas was lured to a rooming house in the northeast community of Pineridge and killed inside.

Although her body has not been found, police say both physical and digital evidence led investigators to conclude Davidenas was killed in the home.

Police believe Davidenas's body was removed from the home three days later.

Cellphone records and security camera footage helped lead police to Zwick.''

Calgary police posted this 'wanted' poster asking the public for help finding Steven Zwick, who was wanted for drug, weapons and fail to comply charges. Zwick is now charged with murder. (Calgary Police Service/Facebook)

''After narrowing down the search location, police say search and rescue crews found human remains northeast of Carseland, Alta. on Thursday, near Range Road 254 and Highway 901.
The hamlet of Carseland located about 35 kilometres east of Calgary.''

''According to Alberta Justice, both men have "lengthy" criminal histories.
Court records show Rushton had been sentenced to eight months in jail after being convicted on a voyeurism charge outlined in the criminal code as surreptitiously observing or making a visual recording of a person who has reasonable expectations of privacy.
Meanwhile, Zwick's court records show he was already facing charges for drugs and weapons-related offences, resisting a peace officer and assault.''

Why hasn’t Calgary police Service released a photo mug shot of Rushton?
This is Canada. One of these days LE probably won’t even be allowed to publish the name of an accused prior to conviction.

Mug shots rare in Canada

“Law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and newsrooms around the world have moved away from publicizing mug shots as they once did because the photos feed into racial bias and are disproportionately harmful to people of colour.
In Canada, photos of criminal suspects — mug shot or otherwise — are rare.

Under the federal Privacy Act, RCMP can't release photos gathered during investigations unless there are special circumstances — like finding a suspect or additional victims.

Once charged, a person's name and the charge becomes public information, but their image/likeness does not. In a case where a person is charged (and photographed for that matter) and the individual does not get convicted, this photograph must be destroyed," read an email from RCMP Cpl. Alex Berube.”

Steven Zwick has a previous criminal history, hence a mug shot.
Joe Rushton does too, so why not post it?

Mug shots aren’t publicly released in Canada when someone is charged with a crime. The link I posted above refers to the Privacy Act which the RCMP must abide by. I don’t know, are you Canadian because in this country the Privacy Act is legislation regarding confidentiality, making what gets released much different than say the US. Like it or not…..

The pic of Zwick was published since he was ‘Wanted’ by LE, otherwise it’s often FB photos that the media publishes, rather than mugshots. JMO
