VANCOUVER — A sexual-assault charge has been laid against a German tourist who Vancouver-area transit police say has a history of similar offences.

Police say they received a complaint of an incident Monday morning on a downtown rapid-transit line, and when they attended they located the victim and the suspect.

They say the victim told officers she was groped by a man while holding onto a pole inside a train car on the Canada Line, which connects downtown Vancouver to Richmond and the Vancouver airport.

Police say the woman yelled at the man and insisted he leave the train with her at a downtown station, where she called an attendant.

Forty-four-year-old Wolfgang Goffing was arrested and charged with sexual assault, but he remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon because he had not yet posted a $5,000 cash bond.

Police say Goffing has a history of sexual offences and was scheduled to leave Canada this coming Sunday but is instead expected to appear in provincial court on Monday.

A German tourist with a history of sexual offences was charged with sexual assault after groping a woman on the Canada Line yesterday morning.

Transit Police said they received a report of a sexual assault that happened on the SkyTrain between the Yaletown and Vancouver City stations on Monday morning.

The female victim told Transit Police she boarded a northbound train at Yaletown and moved to the center of the full train when she felt unwanted physical contact of a sexual nature and then saw a man’s hand groping her.

The woman said she yelled at the man and told him to get off the train with her at Vancouver City Station, where she reported the incident to the Canada Line attendant.

Wolfgang Goffing was arrested, charged and could be released on $5,000 cash bond. At the time of the announcement, Transit Police said the bond had not yet been posted. If Goffing fails to post bond he will be kept in custody until March 16 when he is set to appear in Vancouver Provincial Court.

Goffing’s passport was not seized by authorities and if he is able to make the cash bond, Goffing will be released and could leave the country, according to Transit Police media advisor Anne Drennan.

The 44-year-old Goffing has a history of sexual offences and was scheduled to return to Germany on March 15.

Last week, two other cases of sexual assault were reported on the Canada Line SkyTrain. One was captured in a photo posted to a Facebook page by a witness.

A second woman came forward several days later, saying she had also been assaulted on the train in a similar incident near the Bridgeport Station in Richmond, B.C.

Drennan said officials were investigating a possible connection between those two alleged assaults.

rbbm.
German females should be prepared for the return of this man come March 15!
Glad LE caught him, if he had returned home before they did, he may have gotten away only to continue the alleged behavior.
Wondering if he is "known" in Germany, if not before, perhaps now.
imo
