GUILTY Canada - Giuseppe 'Joe' Caputo, 70, slain in his Niagara Falls home, 19 June 2015

What is wrong with this picture? RD gets an 8 yr prison sentence for attempted murder in 2003...then at the time of this article he is found to be close to 1.5x to 2x almost, over the legal limit while driving causing a multi-car crash and causing multiple injuries to himself, his wife and another driver while also risking his little baby's life...all this after it is said "At the time, Doxtator was a prohibited driver due to a prior drinking and driving conviction. As well, his license had been suspended indefinitely for non-payment of fines." and ALL he gets is an additional 90 days in jail to be served on wknds...REALLY? What is wrong with the Canadian Judicial System? Everything I believe...yet I see the Toronto Mayor is worried about how officers are carding people on the street and is getting rid of this process, these small law changes are easy to make but are the least of our worries, somebody in gov't needs to make a big move...The Laws need to get much tougher on repeat offenders of violent crimes and possible violent crimes like DUI's that can cause death or serious injuries. Now this guy is wanted on 1st degree murder charges...wow. Had laws been tougher and RD got an additional 3 yrs and serve 2/3 or all of that time, I think their victim would still be with us today, yes hindsight is 20/20 but you know what I mean.

I see on JD's FB account she is friends with a few people from Seneca Casino and JC (GC). JC has a friend on FB who works at Marriott Fallsview Resort in Niagara. So just a hunch that maybe JC frequents Seneca and/or Niagara casinos sometimes and he ran into JD and RD at some point and they became FB friends that way. So if they ran into each other more than once at a casino, maybe JC won a half decent sum of money one night and they followed him home or he invited them over for a drink (which would be unlikely) and things went wrong after that. So maybe as a long shot I would be checking Casino footage Thursday evening June 18th and shortly after midnight into Friday morning depending on when voices were heard that Friday morning....another sad story...damn!

Google 'Gladue Reports' as used in the Canadian justice system.
Yes GLADUE is exactly what I am questioning...this report or system needs to be used within reason...like if a person keeps committing petty crimes like spray painting a building, shoplifting, throwing a rock through a store window at midnight, getting on a bus and not paying cause you're drunk and disturbing the peace. BUT a violent person no matter the history cannot be let off that easy especially when it is not the first time committing that same crime (let's not forget attempted murder conviction), even worse, having his young child with him while going on DUI spree. The lady judge who slapped his wrist should be ashamed!

Also this case is Canadian, not Niagara Falls, NY. These two are likely in Canada.

Yes, Bessie it's horrible that there is barely any press on this case when these two are on the run with a kid. The Rick dude looks super scary. JMO

The suspects were known to the victim, said police, who are seeking the public's assistance. Anyone learning the whereabouts of the wanted pair is warned not to approach them. Instead, they should call 911 immediately.

Police also said anyone assisting the suspects may be found guilty of the offence of accessory after the fact to murder.

Hopefully they were stupid enough to try to get to Georgina Island.

On Tuesday, police located the two co-accused in a vehicle travelling on Hwy. 400. They were arrested at about 6:35 p.m.

They have since been taken to Niagara, where they were to have a Canada Day bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch courthouse on 59 Church St., St. Catharines.

Each is charged with first-degree murder.

Niagara police are recognizing Hamilton Police Service, York Regional Police Service, Six Nations Police Service and the public for their assistance leading up to Tuesday night’s arrests.

No word on the child who was said to be with them.

Also what's with the BS that Jasmine Doxtator is from BC and lives in Sudbury?

I only know about this murder because we were told by our neighbours in Niagara Falls, minutes from the retirement home on Portage Road, that both cousins were the previous occupants of our rental home, which we moved into on January 2016.

We were told the cousins were oxy dealers and something went wrong related to that, leading to the murder. (I don't mean to imply that Mr. Caputo was involved in drug dealing or purchasing, only to convey what we were told.) I looked it up briefly when we were told just to confirm the story but never delved deeper. We moved from the house in December 2016, and I recently became curious about it and found myself here, so thanks for posting this information.

I can't imagine my neighbours were wrong because it's so specific and, to my knowledge, they had some kind of knowledge of the victim.

All I know about the house is this:
- It's in a beautiful but not-great area of the city. A lot of break ins and petty crime around the area - in fact, that's how we learned about this murder.
- My landlord bought the house in November or December 2016 and had no knowledge of the past tenants until we told him about it. The previous owner lives somewhere on a boat and sold the house after years of renting it various tenants using a real estate agent/property manager. They were the last tenants he rented to.
- After learning this, I noticed giant gashes on our front door that looked like someone had broken in with a crowbar, and I just assumed it was the police, but who knows?
- There was(is?) one end of a bungee cord sticking out of the ground in the back yard. I have often imagined what it might lead to but never dared dig up the yard.

Thanks again for posting all of this here.

Niagara Falls senior suffered 18 cutting wounds, jury told

In his opening address to the six-man, six-woman jury, assistant Crown attorney Timothy Hill said the evidence will show Richard Doxtator, 40, and his cousin Jasmine Doxtator, 38, are responsible for the death of 70-year-old Giuseppe "Joe" Caputo.

The trial before Judge James Ramsay is expected to last four weeks with 30 witnesses expected to testify for the Crown.

Jury shown graphic photographs

The photographs included graphic images of Caputo's body lying in a pool of blood in the hallway of his apartment. Other photos showed blood spatter throughout the small unit including a large pool of blood on the floor between the living room and dining room.

Retired forensic officer Colin Hoare, who was tasked with documenting the bloody scene and collecting evidence, described in detail the dozens of photographs he took in the days following the murder.

Caputo's neighbour Michelle D. testified she would often seen Jasmine Doxtator at the apartment complex.

“They were friends. They were together a lot,” she said of Caputo's relationship with the woman.

She would also see the two of them at a Stanley Avenue coffee shop where she worked.

A man who initially agreed to let two people camp behind his house near Hagersville later changed his mind when he grew suspicious of the duo, a jury was told Wednesday.

“I asked him did you beat someone up or did you kill someone or hurt someone and he just put his head down and wouldn’t look at me,” Trevor told assistant Crown attorney Timothy Hill.

Based on Richard Doxtator’s reaction, Trevor said he quickly regretted offering to let them stay.

When he questioned him further, he said Richard Doxtator told him to watch the news if he wanted to learn more. It was then that Trevor told them they were no longer welcome on his property.

Jury convicts cousins in slaying of Niagara senior

http://www.wellandtribune.ca/2017/09/21/jury-convicts-cousins-in-slaying-of-niagara-senior

A jury took less than five hours to find two cousins guilty in the brutal stabbing death of a Niagara Falls senior.

Richard Doxtator, 40, and Jasmine Doxtator, 38, showed no emotion Thursday after a jury in a Superior Court of Justice in Welland found the pair guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Giuseppe "Joe" Caputo.

Judge James Ramsay sentenced the pair to life in prison, with no possibility of parole for 25 years.

“You killed him and you slandered him and I'm glad to see you off,” Ramsay told the defendants.
