GUILTY Canada - Ibrahim Ali, accused of killing girl, 13, Burnaby, BC, 18 July 2017

Still nothing in the media but I was able to confirm the trial has been continuing. I think this link will always have the most recent day's schedule showing. Right now it still shows last Friday's, but it should be updated for today in a couple hours (Monday was the Thanksgiving holiday in Canada so no court).

Thank you @jash - still wondering if the defense has the case or if the jury has the case?

And WHY no articles??!! :(

edited to add - I noticed in my notes that the Judge said this trial would last until September...

I don't remember seeing the JURY notation in the schedule on the other recent dates so my first thought was that the jury has the case now but I don't want to jump to conclusions.

I keep checking for news articles and I don't understand why all sources have gone quiet since Dr. Pickett was last supposed to continue her cross-examination. Hopefully if closing arguments have happened, we will hear about it.

I am not surprised if the trial got extended, between the defendant's "illnesses" and Dr. Pickett's death. Hopefully the jury was able to rearrange their private lives to accommodate. They've really fulfilled their civic duty with this one.

A new article! Finally!

Sounds like the trial itself has only resumed today. The other dates we saw may have been closed hearings to deal with the fallout of Dr. Pickett's death.

The jury in a B.C. Supreme Court murder trial has been told that an expert witness didn’t finish her testimony because she is dead.

Justice Lance Bernard told the jury Tuesday at the resumption of the first-degree murder trial for Ibrahim Ali that when Dr. Tracy Pickett didn’t show up to finish her cross-examination last month, the court wasn’t aware that she had died.
.
.
.
Bernard asked jury members not to speculate on her death, saying they would be told what to do with the doctor’s testimony after Crown and defence lawyers make submissions to the court.

...the Crown called [GP], the manager of a Burnaby Tim Hortons restaurant.

[GP] testified that CCTV footage from inside the Tim Hortons showed the teen entering the business around 6 p.m. on July 18, 2017, wearing jean shorts, a black T-shirt and wired earbuds.

She testified that the footage the jury would watch showed the girl spent about 90 minutes at the restaurant.

B.C. Supreme Court Justice Lance Bernard addressed the jury at the trial of Ibrahim Ali Tuesday for the first time since police found the body of Dr. Tracy Pickett in Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood on Sept. 28.
.
.
.
Bernard told the jury the trial will continue as planned unless they hear something to the contrary from him.

Thanks @jash ! I shall update my notes. I did notice all reported DID stop after Dr. Pickett's death. Hopefully her death was not related to the case & not foul play either!
Again - THANKS for finding those new articles! :D
