PETERBOROUGH-- Police don’t know what happened to Lise Fredette but are really concerned, based on what they found in her driveway.

“Her glasses and house key were found on the ground near her vehicle,” explains Peterborough-Lakefied detective staff sergeant Lynne Buehler.

Ms Fredette was reported missing Thursday (Nov. 13). Police say her co-workers at Walmart called family after she failed to show up at work. Family went to check on Ms Fredette’s well-being but she wasn’t at her Bensfort Road home.

Police had set up a command post at the scene and forensics officers searched the backyard of a home and canvassed nearby houses.

They also collected evidence, which appeared to be blood, around a Toyota RAV4 parked in a driveway at 2533 Bensfort Rd.

“There is a substance in the driveway but we are not prepared to speculate at this point to what it is,” says Det. Buehler.

...Ms Fredette is described as five-feet four-inches, 120 pounds, with short blonde hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a quarter-length black down-filled winter jacket, dark pants, and black shoes. She had a dark-coloured purse and a blue lunch pail with her.

As well, police are looking for help identifying an older model blue Dodge Caravan van, with a heavy-set male driver, in the area of Bensfort Road and Maxwell Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 12). Anyone with information is urged to call police at 705-876-1122, ext. 555, Crimer Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or email

Police continue search for missing Peterborough woman Lise Fredette
November 15, 2014

PETERBOROUGH -- Police are searching the south-east area of Peterborough Saturday (Nov. 15) as they continue to look for a missing woman.

...Police are continuing to search for the driver of a blue Dodge Caravan seen in the area of her home on Nov. 12 at about 5 p.m. The driver, who has not been identified, is described as heavy set. Police say it's unclear what connection, if any, this has with Ms Fredette's disappearance.

As well, police report that Ms Fredette’s dark colored purse and blue thermal lunch bag have not been located.

I am wondering whether her ex boyfriend still owed her a lot of money and maybe she realized she might never get it back and confronted him. His vehicle could be blue in colour. I hope the police say more about this tomorrow. She just has the look of a kind person and may have been taken advantage of. JMO

This article has A LOT of additional info.

"When police previously searched Watson's on Saturday, they opened a window and left a few hours later with two brown paper bags, said a neighbour who wished to remain anonymous.

Though the neighbour said Watson was a smoker and perhaps his home smelled of cigarettes, it's caused them to wonder why police didn't close the window before leaving, especially due to the cold temperatures.

"It didn't make sense that they left that window open," said the neighbour.

A day earlier, Watson's blue Subaru SUV was wrapped up and towed away and two large brown tarps that were hanging on his clothesline were also taken by police,

When asked if Watson's blue SUV could be the blue vehicle police were looking to identify near Fredette's home on the night she went missing, city police Det. Staff Sgt. Lynne Buehler declined comment.

"I think I'll stay away from that question. I think I better not answer that one."

Watson left with police, without handcuffs, on Thursday night, wearing green slippers, and has not been seen since, said the neighbour."

Ex-boyfriend Andy Watson arrested for Lise Fredette murder
2 hours ago

...Mr. Watson had been warned on Sept. 9 to stay away from Ms Fredette whom he had been dating.

Police believe he was waiting for her, attacked her in the driveway and took her to another location, says Det. Staff Sgt. Lynne Buehler. Her body has not been recovered, and she is believed to be somewhere with soft ground and long yellow grass.

Police are asking the public to look for areas like this, and keep an eye out for her purse and her lunchbag which have not been recovered.

The search for the body of Lise Fredette took on a different twist on Saturday. A group of more than 60 volunteers from the community joined together to help look for her, led by her son Stéphane Leclerc of Toronto and his sister Nathalie.
Leclerc reached out for help on a volunteer community search, first speaking to the gathering at Del Crary Park then handing out printouts of maps before they went out to different areas of the region. Fredette went missing Nov. 12.
“I want to find my mom,’’ said Leclerc, just before he, Nathalie and others left for the Hiawatha Line off Country Rd. 2. “We need to find her before winter. We wanted to get the community together to help and their response has been amazing. I have talked to so many caring people.’’
Police arrested Andrew Watson on first degree murder last Saturday but have not recovered Fredette’s body. They have also encouraged residents, especially south of the city and in rural areas, to be vigilant and search their own properties. Police believe her body is somewhere where the ground is soft and grass long and yellow.
Watson will return to court Dec. 22 after making a brief appearance Friday morning. Fredette was his former girlfriend.
Watson was charged last Saturday after police investigated the disappearance of Fredette when she left work at Walmart to head home. Her glasses and keys were found in the driveway of her Bensfort Rd. home.

My god. I had to look twice at their ages I couldn't believe it. This is so horribly sad. She should have been living out her golden years peacefully. Evil has no age.

Alleged killer Andy Watson won't strike a deal on Lise Fredette disappearance: lawyer

PETERBOROUGH-- Lise Fredette’s alleged killer isn’t about to strike a deal with the Crown Attorney’s office.
“There’s absolutely no chance of a plea,” says Kathryn Wells, the lawyer who represents Andy Watson.
Mr. Watson was charged with Ms Fredette’s murder on Nov. 22. She was reported missing Nov. 12, but police have yet to locate her body, purse or lunch bag. Ms Fredette’s son Stéphane Leclerc says Mr. Watson isn't talking.
“This guy just decided to do this for some reason and decides to keep torturing our family by not saying anything,” Mr. Leclerc said to more than 100 volunteer searchers at Del Crary Park on Sunday (Dec. 7).

A man who’s accused of killing a local woman whose body has never been found made a vocal appearance in court on Monday...

When Watson appeared via video from the Central East Correctional Centre, he said that he wished to appear in person for his next court date, on Feb. 24, instead of by video, which he said he doesn’t like.

Watson also said that he didn’t have a lawyer. “I do not have a lawyer, period. End of story,” he said, repeating himself a second time.

Sending thoughts of hope and prayers to everyone involved in the search for Lise.

A judicial pre-trial for the man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend was delayed before it could get underway in Peterborough Superior Court of Justice over concerns Andrew Watson isn't capable of representing himself in the proceedings.

A court-appointed lawyer will once again assist the 77-year-old charged with first-degree murder in the death of Lise Fredette, 74, after Watson thrice appeared Thursday morning before Justice Alex Sosna...

The matter was then adjourned until Feb. 22 at 9:30 a.m. before Madam Justice Michelle Fuerst in Newmarket.
