For those not in Nova Scotia, RCMP just put out an emergency alert about reports of shots fired in two Halifax neighbourhoods.

Update: Police currently on scene in wooded area between Haliburton Hills & Highland Park Heights Sub in relation to a report of shots fired. There has been a additional report of shots fired in the Omega Crt area of Hubley. Residents are to stay inside: HammondsPlains Tantallon.

BREAKING: Nova Scotia RCMP tells residents to stay indoors after unconfirmed reports of gun shots in two neighbourhoods
"RCMPNS are responding to reports of shots fired (unconfirmed) in the Haliburton Heights area of Hammonds Plains," tweeted the RCMP, asking residents to remain indoors.

RCMP arrived at the scene in a "wooded area" near Hammond Plains. There has been an additional report of shots fired in Hubley''

Multiple stores in Bedford, Sackville and Dartmouth Crossing have been closed down.

Reached by phone, an employee at Canadian Tire in Sackville said there was a report of an active shooter, but could not say anything further.''

I don’t know of a recent theft. There was a theft of an RCMP’s gun, ammunition and magazines stolen from an off-duty officer’s car last year:

Are the RCMP just supporting HRP in this instance because of the potentially serious nature? A suburb of Halifax woudn't typically be their beat, would it?

Lots of people in rural areas have guns...

Also Friday afternoon, Halifax Regional Police said officers were investigating a weapon complaint at 30 Lamont Terrace in Dartmouth — the location of the Canadian Tire in Dartmouth Crossing. Police said in that incident there was no threat to the public because it involved an airsoft gun.

This article makes it sound like the airsoft gun at a Canadian Tire is an unrelated event?
