News reports mention that there was a short conversation between the perp and victim, but what was said has not afaik been revealed.
Investigators believe the attack was premeditated and isolated. Comments made to the victim at her door also indicate the attack was targeted, Division Superintendent Heather Ramore said during a news conference Monday.

A fake delivery man shot a Mississauga woman with a crossbow in a ‘targeted’ hit, police say
"The victim and 'delivery man' had a brief conversation, and then the man shot her in the chest. She was able to close the door as he ran, and call 911".
"Comments made to the victim (by the suspect) indicate the victim was targeted and that the suspect may have carried out the attack at the request of another individual," said Supt. Heather Raymor. "It is clear that this attack was meant to end the victim's life."
Canada crossbow attack: police looking for suspect who posed as a delivery person - CNN
"Investigators believe the attack was premeditated and isolated. Comments made to the victim at her door also indicate the attack was targeted, Division Superintendent Heather Ramore said during a news conference Monday."

"The suspect's right hand was in the box and investigators believe that arm was used to trigger the crossbow and fire, Peel Regional Police Detective Sergeant Jim Kettles said."

I am guessing he said something like, "Are you so-and-so?" "Is this <the woman's address>?"

Just like he's making a delivery!

Once the victim opened her door, there shouldn't be any need to have a conversation with her before he shot. So if he didn't know her, he did have to ask.

But if it is a case of a hired killer by someone she knows, there should be a suspect by now. Good for the victim to survive as she can answer questions for herself.

I hope some neighbours have surveillance video that shows his vehicle.

    Unrelated?
Just came across this link, no idea if it is related to this case or not, but it is interesting because it occurred in the same area (Mississauga) as the attempted murder.
    fwiw, speculation, imo.
‘He has a dangerous weapon’: Video shows burglar stealing crossbow in Mississauga neighbourhood
    Jul 12, 2018
"He has been lurking around in the early morning and checking people’s cars, garages and sheds.

In one incident, he went into a shed in the back of a home on Mississauga Valley Boulevard and stole a crossbow, used by the owner for hunting, along with four bolts."
“He has a dangerous weapon and this guy is walking around with it,” said Sam Wieczorek, who lives on nearby Vermouth Avenue. “Police need to catch him. Hopefully the (videos) will help.”

More than a coincidence to me!

White clothes that looked very similar... A cap (though different)... A crossbow that would be about the right size.. Stolen 4 months before the crossbow attack

Great find, dotr! I think if the theft is related, that may lead to a resolution, people often burglarize areas they are familiar with. Check out all the dark pickups (I bet they know the make/model) in the area of the theft....fingers crossed.

wow, @dotr - that is quite a memory or find - such an odd coincidence. So odd that I hope LE is exploring any possible connection.

Looking at this a bit more, to me, the hoodie and pants look similar in both videos. There seems to be a gather or bunching at the cuff of both pants, although the burglar has stockier more bowed legs than the murderer who had slimmer, longer legs and narrower hips than the burglar. The burglar goes right to the rear door of the shed and spends less than a minute inside and comes out with the crossbow and one other bundle in his left hand. He certainly does not appear to be random. I think he knew the crossbow was there and went only for it. It could be unrelated to the killing, or perhaps the thief was also the 'contractor'??

I imagine cross bows are not that rare in areas where folks hunt a lot. Shrug...

I think the physical differences you note can be explained by the fact that the murderer video was shot by a very wide angled lens. Dimensions are very distorted by such lens. Another poster has observed he has tiny feet! Which is also due to the distortion. Imo

    Random speculations. imo.
Why would the perp openly show his face to the victim, yet wear what looks like an askew( toupe/hairpiece?)( secured with a du rag?) under a hat, on his head?

What, if anything was he trying to hide or disguise?
Could it be something distinctive in some way, like he is bald, blonde, red haired , tattooed ect.?
For that matter, any chance he wore an inexpensive nose prosthetic?

This sounds like a killing for hire job with max pain involved. Husband, Ex-husband,Ex-boyfriend or did she recently beat someone else out of a job promotion or elected position?
