"As you can imagine, he's pretty traumatized by the event," Shankaran said, when asked to describe the instructor's mood following the attack.

Paramedics said the victim was in his 40s. They described his injuries as minor.

Shankran said the accused is a 21-year-old international student, who is believed to be in her second year. Police are in the midst of trying to contact her family overseas"

"The suspect is a second year international student studying mathematics and economics. She is also a former student of the victim.

“Right now we are trying to piece together why she did this,” said Det. Jason Shankaran, adding there had been no prearranged meeting between the professor and student.

The victim was able to disarm the student and called out for help from colleagues, Shankaran said. The man required 13 stitches for cuts to his thighs, wrists and face, and is “very traumatized,” the detective added"
