Singer Chris Brown was apparently prevented from leaving the Philippines Tuesday after a successful concert in Manila. Authorities from the Department of Justice there said the ban was because of a legal dispute over a Manila concert Brown cancelled last year, and he'd need to seek a clearance certificate. He is due to perform another concert in Hong Kong.

Following the concert, Brown posted a long and rather disturbing message on his Instagram account. Details are at the link.

As far as I'm concerned, they can keep him there forever. :giggle:

Despite reports he'd left, the Bangkok Post says Brown is still in Manila and not permitted to leave until he can prove there was 'no fraud' involved in his failure to show for the cancelled concert there last December.

More rants have been posted to Brown's Instagram, and then been removed, along with a video showing him and his companions in a hotel room wrapped in white blankets and playing video games.

I'm not sure when the concert in Hong Kong is due. If he doesn't make that, there's going to be more trouble.

At the time, Chris Brown was reported to have called off the New Year's Manila concert at the last minute as he had lost his passport. He only let organizers Maligaya Development Co know he was still in LA the day before the event.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2892671/Chris-Brown-cancels-Philippine-concert.html

Later, Hollywood life quoted an 'unnamed source' who had told them the real reason for Brown's no-show was because he'd just reconciled with girlfriend Karreuche Tran, following a very public split played out with insulting posts on Instagram.

The US Government has long contracted out speedy/emergency passport issue to private companies: http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/services/expedited.html

A glimpse around google suggests they can obtain a replacement for lost passports in 24 hours, for those able to pay the charges.

So it looks like at least 2 members of the family of the group that filed the complaint against Brown are (allegedly) being held at gunpoint in a compound at Quezon, just a short distance from where Brown is staying in Manila.

It's supposedly a result of a family fight over power and supporters have gathered outside, where they saw someone hold up a sign reading 'What happened to the missing ministers?'. There doesn't seem to be any police presence.

I think Chris Brown may have accidentally got himself caught up in something bigger and badder than he could ever have expected...

Iglesia ni Cristo owns the venue Brown was supposed to perform in, but I'm uncertain what its connection is with concert organizers Maligaya Development, who filed the complaint.

Both Brown and his manager are accused of 'swindling'.

Awww...that's too bad. He's such a great guy! With SO much to offer - great morals, outstanding music, generous contributions to society - I'm not sure how we are all going to go on if he doesn't make it back.

The only thing that could make this story any better would be if Kanye had somehow been involved.

    :shame:

Chris Brown has pleaded for help, sàying someone must be held accountable for mixing his 'name up in all this'. He says he only came to the Philippines to do a 'make-up' concert for the one he cancelled New Year.

The article also confirms the church group Iglesia ni Cristo is part of the complaint against him.

    http://www.philstar.com/entertainment/2015/07/24/1480488/chris-brown-pleads-ive-done-nothing-wrong

Meanwhile, that religious sect has 'allowed' police and the Quezon mayor inside its compound, to prove nobody is held hostage there. The sign held up yesterday by someone asking where all the missing church ministers were was, 'a joke by children', the leaders have claimed.

    http://www.philstar.com/nation/2015/07/24/1480489/signs-outside-building-kids-bad-joke-says-inc-exec

While Brown has said his situation 'is very serious' I'm not entirely sure he's aware of what's been going on with the sect bringing the complaint against him, or exactly who they are.

The Iglesio ni Cristo compound and what seems to be happening there reminds me of Waco a little. Except the leaders seem much richer and more powerful.

Hong Kong has been cancelled too. That'll be millions and millions down the drain, together with Jakarta.

The Beatles (apart from Paul) sustained minor injuries and had to fight their way through angry crowds after a concert in the Philippines once, this article says.
