The last time the Judge spoke to the Jury he told them if they have a question to send a note. A clerk would go in the Jury room and provide an answer, evidence what ever they want.

Never heard of that. Guess we won’t hear the questions. No hint on what they are thinking

Strange

MOO

I also think this jury will want to ensure both sides feel the jury has given enough thought and enough time into the verdict. They wouldn’t want Merritt to think they sent him up the river without considering all the evidence. Likewise, they wouldn’t want the McStay family to think they didn’t consider everything before letting the man accused of brutally murdering their entire family walk free.

Exactly. They need to take some time to go through the evidence and talk some things through. Even if they are all in agreement in the 1st poll, they should still look through the facts and discuss.

It is a man's life they are discussing.

The judge asked each side if they would stipulate. or agree' that the jury could make those requests and receive the answers, without the attorneys and the defendant there to hear what the request was.

The judge asked CM personally if he would stipulate to that. If one side or the other dont agree to that stipulation, then every time the jury asks for a transcript read back of a certain witness, or a certain exhibit, then they would be called and they would have to come to court and hear the judge read them the request and tell them what he was giving to the jury.

It is very slow to do it that way but some want it like that. I was surprised the DT agreed to it.

[ you can see the judge explain it on the last video, which begins after the closings are done, and the jury is out.]
