Is anyone shocked about what they cannot talk about? No friends allowed to testify?

In regard to ALL ove posts..While I agree that victim impact statements are important..Colorado is NOT like so many other States..Most impact Statement is usually done when guilty verdict is confirmed and it's only up to the Judge to assign Sentence..So since in Colorado...their statements (Victim family friends) have to be very narrow as not to be piling on and outside of the box claims (ala media causation of harm etc)..

This type of trial is so different..because the Judge is not rendering the verdict..but a group of 12 juror's who actually make the decision....

Normally post Guilty verdict..The Judge weighs ALL sides and get letters and emails from defendant supporters have a voice.
I really don't blame Judge Saymour at all!! IF Jury decides on DP he will know he did it all within the law and follow their directions...

Having said all that..I do think this Judge would rule DP IF he had his druthers!!

She will also have objections to all the video's of impact statement..blah blah..then of course the whole litany of Amendment objections!! She's actually despirate!! THIS is no Judge Stephen's..She'd be in-chanbers for the next month discussing all of this!! BUT this Judge KNOWS what he is doing!! Something is very wrong when any Judge needs to take months off to review stuff!! I do know in Arizona case..Def. Lawyer's got away like bandits tying up the court for so many years!! What a farce...however..Taxpayer's are forced to pay extra for Judge Stephen's incompetence!!

Saymour is a different animal!! He does his homework and research!! Bless this Judge!!

While everybody is aghast of these rulings ( as is myself) this is the first time I've watched a 3 phase situation..so as I trust this Judge I have to assume he cannot allow things that could reverse the finding by the jury!! It's better to be safe than sorry..BUT worse case scenario the J. will be incarcerated until he dies!!!!!

Attny's and Court to return @ 9AM MT....11 EDT..4PM Maisie time ))) So should be ready for jury come 10AM their time..Course we ALL know Nelson will object ++++ but Judge will give his ruling on those issues he has taken under advisements at that time....

I didn't follow the Austin Siggs case (Jessica Ridgeway) - but this weekend, I watched the sentencing hearing.

One of JH's public defenders was part of the AS defense (can't remember her name).

I found it interesting to see how similar her presentation for mitigation was for AS and JH (both people with overwhelming evidence that they committed horrific crimes). The mitigations are nearly identical - almost like a formula. Only in AS case, it was all in a power point and only 30 minutes long, but in JH, it was done through witness testimony and spread over several days.

I don't care what happens to the shooter. I care that victims are being scripted, muzzled, silenced. I think anyone who endured the trials of Arias know how judges live in terror of being overturned. I hadn't seen that in this case til now. What if the jury, watched closely by the judge, gets emotional while listening to the EMOTIONAL impact statement by a VICTIM??? Will that victim be escorted from the court? Admonished to keep their emotions in check? Judge keeps referencing McVey....MANY more victims. I think it's possible that the judge is shaken about how definite and quickly this jury convicted Jimmy. Now, he's getting all trembly just like Sherry.
God Bless the victims of this monstrous killer....it's going to be hard enough to be sitting so close to him but having to endure the constant objections by Nelson, Higgs, whomever and admonishments from the judge. What a nightmare for them....
