I thought she meant hearing not trial. I thought the judge would read the verdict today but formally impose it at a later date?

Sentencing is in three phases and this is the final phase. I'm pretty sure he will be sentenced today after the verdict.

So when do the victims get to give their address to the court? The judge said he doesn't mind how long it takes. He said he would allow a few days if necessary.

BBM - I would imagine that was their testimony the past couple of days?

Today is the sentencing phase.

I do think the Judge will actually hold a "Sentencing Day" down the road..This part is just deciding LWOP or Death" for the 12 murderedx 2 counts. The later sentencing will be when he announces his decision on the other 140+ guilty charges.

I do hope he doesn't merge or make those sentenced years for those charges ..The other term Judges use is concurrent versus consecutive which means they add all those years to his DP or LWOP. Just as an exclamation mark.

Also this is when the victim can actually address J. directly and tell him exactly what they think!! The impact testimony in Phase 3 was just the rebuttal to the defences PITY PARTY of phase 2.

Thinking back to the JA sentencing, I remember Travis' family were allowed to address the court before the sentence was passed. Is this not the same here?

The #TheaterTrial jury was just escorted through the lobby of the courthouse. No particularly emotional expressions on their faces.

What will the jury do till then?? Maybe a nice, leisurely dinner somewhere -- a bit early, however!!

I think the victims can actually talk again before the Judge hands down any more decisions. That one I do not think the defense can object to on anything.

I wish we had a CO legal beagle here.

Different state, maybe different procedure?

I guess we will have to wait and see. From what I googled today the judge will sentence him today but you could be right. We will find out. Lol

I think there are two separate events - One today, giving the jury verdict of life or death for the 24 counts of murder, and a second later (don't think the judge set a date), for sentencing on the remaining 141 guilty counts for the wounded & explosives.

IIRC, the judge said the wounded victims could all speak if they wanted to. It may not be livestreamed, because I believe the news outlets requested permission for still photography to be published (I think they decide that on Tuesday). At least that's how I understood it.

I hope so I need to go through this trial withdrawal in baby steps. Lol
