Still Missing CO - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *arrest* #82

I have the same question as others about why some evidentiary items from the arrest affidavit were not brought up in the PH. Is it because the defense took too much time or some other reason?
It was alluded to that the prosecution needs to bring in an outside lawyer who can prosecute this case for them. I wouldn't disagree...The presentation at PH was tentative and sketchy in some respects, imo. I know the trial will look entirely different...much will be brought up for the first time.. Problem is...they get one bite of the apple. A prosecutor specializing in circumstantial cases would be a good place to start. JMO...but I think we know what we have in these prosecutors...and they could use some help.

The dogs (trained final response) did alert (all 3 of them!) on the flatbed trailer, with dirt and gravel on it, and the Bobcat Skid Steer in Barry's driveway. One of the dogs even jumped into the seat of the Bobcat and tried to lay down.

What am I missing here @Trackergd ? How was the Bobcat ruled out as being involved if this happened with the dogs?

You are not missing anything @swedeheart.

In my opinion, when you have a criminal investigation and a trained/certified scent dog alerts on an object (in this case 3), those items should be impounded and forensically processed for evidence.

I am baffled why LE would rule it out given that it is the ideal piece of equipment to dispose of a body and that a witness may have heard it operating late at night in one of the areas of interest. Only thing I can think of is that it may have had an operational reporting GPS maintenance alert system that does not place it in any of the targeted areas of interest. Questions I would have, does any potential GPS data place it in the area surrounding PP, and can the operator disable the GPS system? From what I have read, the GPS tracker is an option.

Was he? They got a lot of messages (previously deleted) from his phone. No evidence of an affair - but evidence of use of *advertiser censored* sites and local sexting opportunities (oof).

I thought there would be way more implicating Barry via affairs, but nope.

OTOH, who would want to have an affair with that man...his attitudes toward sex and women are horrifying. The fact that he has to look up how to pleasure a woman at his age and that Suzanne says the sex "wasn't pleasurable" tells a whole story (that apparently Barry cannot see). The affair with Shoshona (as far as the AA tells) started two months after Suzanne went missing.

I was hoping for so much more. It's going to take me a while to get over my disappointment here.
If Sho Sho said that she and BM were not intimately involved...how does she explain the many trips to her house which included overnighters? I know this isn't about her....but, she claims to have called in the tip line right after the 'disappearance"....and when did she meet Barry at the dumpster, exactly? Before or after Suzanne's disappearance? And where does her ex fit into this....it sounds like both of them are introducing SODDI into the mix...Why?

Does thus qualify as another acquisition for our ZOO??? Per SM's brother Andrew M. ---

"Barry knows how to cover scent by using skunk spray and is an exceptional hunter."

AA page 52. Adobe Acrobat

Actually that is quite effective, but it would be skunk urine. I prefer fox urine to cover my scent when I attempt to throw off tracking dogs during training drills. Skunk spray is just way over the top, the handlers can smell it and know I'm trying to throw the dogs off scent.

This was pretty interesting! Chris interviewed a friend of his, who is an avid hunter and wilderness expert. First part of the discussion is about Gabby, but then he gets in to the Barry's release and the AA.

Starts about 52 mins in.

ETA: *Funny note. I fell asleep while I was listening to this, really early this morning, and I dreamed I was at Puma Path, walking the grounds, searching for any anomalies in the landscape. The Bobcat and some tools were there, being guarded by Barry. It's interesting how often I dream about this case. Must mean it weighs heavily on my mind. :(

I read the whole thing last night, and if we didn't already know it Barry is clearly as guilty as sin.

I am paraphrasing here as I don't have the tools to search the document, however, a couple of things stood out:

- Barry being asked what he was like at hunting deer, Barry said he never ever missed.
- Barry mentioning something happening at 2.30
- I think he knew about the affair but he doesn't know who it was (he does now!!). He was desperate to get that information.
- I was surprised by how much communication there was between Suzanne and JL. Over one four days period there were 74 calls made?! Barry is not going to like that at all.
If he had known, that the rival was the same rival he had once (one event) during HS time. In any case I think so, that JL is the same. Didn't BS know until the very end???

I wanted to ask why do you think they feel Barry is a burden to them? Do you have specific information that leads you to believe that? For all I have seen as per their actions in the courtroom and now, they are supportive of him. It seems they believe him to be innocent and he can do no wrong.

(See BBM).

It is my humble opinion that therein lies the problem. I would also gather that this is exactly why Barry became the type of person he is today.

This worked really well in the Derek Chauvin trial. Outside prosecutors. I have read a lot about them, they were very specialised and dedicated to the trial. No distractions. They worked really long hours.
During the trial, one of the team worked (quietly and anonymously) all night evey night, to advise the front team on what to do and say next.

I'm very confused, maybe someone can explain.

There seem to be two videos of BM leaving the jail.

This one shows him in a pinkish tee shirt, and his oldest daughter is driving.

This one shows him with a flannel over the pinkish shirt, and another woman is driving.

Did he leave jail twice?

I had only seen the pink T-shirt footage but then came across this in the media thread, with an overshirt CO - CO - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee County, 10 May 2020 , MEDIA,MAPS,TIMELINE *NO DISCUSSION*

perhaps he was trying to back up his assertion to the agents that it is normal for him to change shirts every few minutes?! ;)

So a mountain lion comes down to his yard area from the mountains. and he doesn't shoot it. Bear in his garage, doesn't shoot it. 8 oz chiipmunk in his yard, blows it away with a 22. I'd love to see a trophy pic of Mr. Big Game hunter kneeling in the grass, dressed in cammo, holding up a dead chipmunk by the ears.

Sure looks like he left twice.

Once out the front door, once out the back?

Both girls get in the backset with Barry in flannel. Woman driving.
Barry gets in front, MM1 driving, Mom in back, MM2 in a different vehicle.

Does anyone know why it was once out the front door, once out the back?
