Barry admitted to one incident where he "accidently" grazed her or something like that. I believe he also admitted to threatening to kill himself to hurt her. She told an incident of him holding a gun to his head also. I believe the AA had listed he held her down on the bed before also.

This is domestic violence. It does not have to be physically punching someone leaving them bruised and broken. The actions he did take weather he meant to hurt her or not are considered domestic violence.

I'd also say his behavior of flying off and getting mad and leaving is abusive. Him sneaking up on her when she didn't know he was home and watching her is causing her to fear enough to call the police. Living with someone that is very unpredictable and doing things like this is 100% abuse and much of it is domestic violence.

Absolutely.

The jurors will recognize this. Suzanne's own words, that she was uncomfortable around him and felt he was unstable. That's powerful evidence. No bushy haired stranger involved who smeared a partial DNA sample on a glove box while staging a bike.

While I think he staged the phone in the general direction of the bike, I don't think he wanted anyone to uncover its contents. My guess -- he staged the bike on foot. Walked home, went left in the truck and then as he passed by the location of the bike, pitched the phone out the window. Minor league speed -- having first disabled it -- before driving onward to Broomfield.

I agree, he didn’t want anyone to uncover its’ contents but I still think he disposed of it at the same time as the bike. More and more I think he planted it in the water (not an accidental over throw) hoping it would be found, and it wasn’t. I mean, after 8 hrs in the water is it possible to recover anything? I dropped mine in a bucket of water once for less than five seconds and it took an entire day before it came on again after taking it apart and drying it out.

I've been replaying the video of Barry's arrival in his truck at his property and have a couple of observations/queries. I slowed the video down to 50% when he and LE are walking to the front door and the walk through in the house. It makes things even more interesting.

1. Where are BM and his buddy headed together at the 14 minute mark, when the LE recalled them and they were made to come back to the truck? They appeared to be walking away into the darkness.

2. When BM was escorted to the front door of the house, he did not appear to take any interest in the note that was on the front door. Wouldn't/shouldn't he be just a little curious about it?

3. Had LE or anyone else already been in the house prior to BM's arrival? The door was unlocked and a central chandelier light was on inside already. Who left it on, and when? Did BM leave the house locked or unlocked when he left that morning?

4. BM flipped the left-sided hall light on when he stepped inside the foyer and a second later flipped on the light to the right of the door. As he and LE are walking down the hallway the camera on the 2nd LE kind of panned the wall to the left and illuminated the light switch. There are 3 toggles there and the one in the middle is not in the on position. Was that a deliberate move on BM's part to keep the lights deliberately dim? The hallway has a pot light in the ceiling in the middle of the hallway that is not illuminated. The open room to the right in the hallway is also dark.

5. When they arrive at the bedroom, BM does not turn on the main light in the bedroom, but turns on the light in the walk-in closet and then steps back for LE to enter the closet. When LE entered the bedroom, he also did not turn on the ceiling light but used the flashlight only. At 14:46 it looks like his flashlight does a brief pan of the floor. Had he turned on the light, he might have seen the dropped ammunition on the floor beside the bed.

6. Why, oh why, did LE not turn on some freaking lights? I don't feel they would have been out of line doing so. The house is large with high ceilings and poor lighting. The kitchen and adjacent space are very dark when BM is fetching the plastic bag. I cannot help but feel there were missed opportunities for LE at that time, without having to have a SW. It almost has the feeling of deference to BM when they were in the house. They should have already been on red alert, IMO.

The AA makes no mention of the 2 devices texting each other, just that there were associations.
the device was first used NOVEMBER 30, 2019- the Morphews were in Mexico during this time. Multiple associations around the time of the “disappearance.” No associations afterwards tho!

@sk716 I stand corrected. I just re-read that section for the 50th time, and finally noticed where it says it was associated to Barry's phone through an SMS on May 8th... This makes me wonder if he had an accomplice.. I'm going to be racking my brain on this one all night now... I'm really confused. I thought I had this part nailed. I still think he bought a burner when he was in Mexico because the timing lines up, and it's when *advertiser censored* was really starting to get tense in their marriage.

I hear you. The reason I think he threw the phone vs placing it is that I think he truly didn't know where it landed.

Trying to mentally fill in some background/context here. Barry is a major hunter, yes? It's more or less his identity, culturally speaking.

So, what was his usual lodging setup when hunting? They couldn't all be day trips from home, especially before moving to Colorado, could they?

Is he a tent camper? (and if so, where are all the coolers?)

I haven't heard about an RV, or pull-behind pop-up camper, or anything along those lines.

Hunting lodge? Remote cabin somewhere?

Answers may be irrelevant to the case, or not. This just feels like a missing part of the overall picture.

I found this very strange too. Well, I guess maybe we know why Barry didn't want any floodlights, and LE may have given the house a wellness check once-over prior to sunset, but you'd think Barry would want to telegraph some sort of concern for Suzanne's welfare. Ask if he can turn lights on. As it was, he did turn lights on. Without permission. On his own, he selected mood lighting. Twilight lighting. How quaint. Perfect for the not-seeing whether anything was out of place, an odd choice for someone claiming not to know what had become of his wife. He showed zero desire to scan his home for clues.

Sometimes What You Don't Do is as informative as What You Do Do.

BM didn't Do Do what I'd expect an innocent man to do.

Don’t lose sight that marriages are complex and we have insight into one side of this marriage only as told to friends and cannot discuss. But I would absolutely say it is not abusive for one partner to walk away in a heated argument…I have purposely removed myself from arguments to give us time to cool off so we can discuss whatever we were arguing about more calmly. Leaving is sometimes a smart thing to do in my opinion.

Why would GPS coordinates for Barry's truck be showing in Broomfield one minute and 7 minutes later be in Salida? This is in reference to Sunday's activity log the defense shared. Could his tampering with the truck the night before lead to that?

But I would absolutely say it is not abusive for one partner to walk away in a heated argument…I have purposely removed myself from arguments to give us time to cool off so we can discuss whatever we were arguing about more calmly. Leaving is sometimes a smart thing to do in my opinion.

While I can agree that marriage are complex and we don't have all the details, we do have quite a bit and it isn't one sided. We have the texts from Barry that he deleted. He admitted to much of this when confronted by police. He was abusive. While it is good to walk away if someone is heated, I feel the nature of what he did and when is not normal. Turning off your phone and not answering it while disappearing for days is not normal.

Sheila was present for much of this also so it isn't always just Suzanne's word for it. Barry called Sheila looking for Suzanne while she was visiting. I believe that incident Suzanne was in the bathroom and didn't answer his calls right away. Sheila was there when they had to call the police because Barry was outside and parked down the road and walked up and it scared them thinking it was someone outside.

I don't understand defending this behavior. While some of this could be normal and occasionally be something a healthy relationship encounters. All the things we know and see can be added up and even taking out things that are only Suzanne's opinion via texting to her friends, we have a lot that Barry admits to, deleted from his phone, and lied about.

That's the thing, there is a great deal of corroboration. Barry admits to certain things, and even one of the daughters admitted that the marriage was not a healthy one. She even texted someone to say that she was worried her parents may have had a big fight on Mother's Day, and that's why Suzanne wasn't responding.

There's also the spy pen, and Suzanne's own notes, that she never imagined anyone would see.

Investigators found no blood in Young’s vehicle or in the clothes in his closet, no fibers from the hotel in the home or blood at the hotel, Investigators said two drawers from a jewelry box and Michelle’s wedding rings were missing from the house, and have not been found. Investigators found no signs of forced entry at the house. There was two partial hits unknown dna on jewelry box. This case had less evidence than this one with morphew and a jury found him guilty, I suspect the same in this case.

Cognitive dissonance.

In the body cam video, Barry indicates paths Suzanne rides. This seems to be in direct contradiction to where she actually would ride. Surely those closest to him see that. And must question why he'd lie about such a thing. Or maybe they can't bring themselves to question that. Because if they question that, they might have to question everything, and if they question everything, the ground below the only world they've ever known may fall from beneath them.

The images we've been given of gaiety and lilt and smiles and coffees and chivalry and touching, there's a name for that. In marketing. It's called rebranding. And the defense is doing it. Everything they can to rebrand Barry as safe. Harmless. Just a dad.

Well, I invite anyone who's up for it to listen to Barry's early interviews -- or any interview, for that matter, with Fox21, and see if he sounds safe and harmless, just a dad. It was his opportunity to talk about his wife, even from within the context of her having been missing for a time already, an opportunity to share his grief, personalize Suzanne. Instead he comes across IMO as an angry bully.

So which Barry is the real Barry? Which brand is he?

I think we're going to have to add a Bull to the list --

Oh it was even worse than that. I remember cigarette butts with foreign DNA on them, a strand of unidentified hair, as well as unidentified fingerprints and palm prints.

I've thought of that one in relation to this case as well.

Who did he cheat with? I don't believe he ever had an affair with anyone. The only altercation in Indy was a guy he had do something on a job he was doing and the guy did not do it right or something and Barry's reputation was on the line so he got angry at this guy. B & S have zero domestic violence calls. Noone is coming out and saying anything different on this except for the assumptions on here.

“B & S have zero domestic violence calls” does not mean there wasn’t DV happening behind closed doors. We have Suzanne’s own words in text message to her Sister, MM, on 5/8/20 stating BM abused her physically and emotionally. Forcefully holding someone down on bed restricting their movements, holding a gun to one’s head threatening to commit suicide bellowing “is this what you want!?”, slamming on brakes when angry, threatening to jump out of car (some of these were listed on SM 50 reasons list-see AA), are all forms of abusive manipulation tactics used by abusers to dominate and
to instill fear and panic in their victims.

There are various forms of DV that don’t necessarily leave marks/bruises/broken bones such as forcefully pinning victim down and/or up against something, tripping, pushing, shoving, to name just a few examples. There’s also a form of DV known as coercive control which I absolutely believe SM was a victim of based on her own words in her text messages and 50 reasons list, which can include physical and emotional abuse however are often ‘less subtle’ forms of abuse but damaging, insidious abuse just the same, and which is also often not reported.
