Gotta say I'm done with the young-people bashing.

They are acting no more foolish and self-indulgent than prior generations. Many carry a LOT of anxiety, and no small sense of betrayal about what we, the elders, have allowed to happen to the planet and to the institutions our own elders built.

It's our job to keep teaching them why we need them to comply (hard to do when we are judging), and it's our job to say, "Thank you. I know it's hard to give up a chunk of your youth for the common good."

Don't believe that this will be over in 2 weeks and school will resume. k-12 schools are closed here, and they will open again in September.

Thanks @otto I am hoping tomorrow morning will have fewer people. Carp, I don't know, maybe will wait until just before closing tonight. Whatever is happening to my reason and logic?

It's the same here in the city where I live. Here all parents with children in day care/after school care are getting an e-mail and to inform if they belong to any of groups that are essential to keep necessary societal functions running.

I would guess fewer people at 9 am. Take your hand sanitizer and don't touch your face! It is definitely safer to go now, before the virus arrives in your city.

You're probably safe doing it at either time.

Hopefully university and post-secondary students have access to the same information as everyone else.

It's always good to check one's own reasoning with others - dialogue really makes for better decision-making.

There's that old saying, don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. I think that applies here, but it is also important to plan around times when few people are out.

By the looks of it, avoid any place with people who might be partying until they drop dead.

Unfortunately, my friend, we dont have enough time to teach that lesson. In about a week, our hospitals will be full of people. This will be an experience learning that will be hard to bear....

I am fortunate (for now) to have accounts with Amazon, our Neighborhood Harvest (farm to table produce and other goodies) and a local dairy that delivers, not just milk, which I don't drink or order but all kinds of other stuff too...this makes up what I am doing for provisions right now. I don't plan on going into any store and when I tried to do pickup grocery here...well no slots available for weeks...plus I can see what is in stock when I order with these others.
I even set my son and his wife up with the harvest and dairy and send them "gift" packages here and there. They like to do Amazon Fresh, but pickings are so slim on there at the moment...like under deli- they only have a jar of roasted red pepper strips!!

I agree. I am one of the people who posted a video about Miami. That is a big concern. But we also need to realize that it seems most young people ARE taking this seriously. If you go onto popular social media, there are endless posts with thousands (sometimes hundreds of thousands!) of "shares" and "likes" about how to practice effective social distancing, what to do during a self-quarantine. Even touching posts about protecting their parents and grandparents. A lot of young people are being responsible. Let's not give them a bad reputation just because a fraction of them are being idiots.

Personally I’d go at night. I’ve noticed the shops are a lot busier in the day time

Brava! Thanks for this. We can only solve our problems (we the elders allowed much of this and need to acknowledge it) by joining across generations.
