Welcome to our new members.

Please review THE RULES, particularly those called “Etiquette & Information” and “Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, etc.”, some of which are as follows:

Do not bring social media comments by the general public to Websleuths. They are considered rumor and are off limits. You can summarize information from an original post on a LE or MSM FB page. No copy and paste, no screenshots, and you must include a link.

Unless LE indicates that an individual is a POI/suspect, that individual is OFF LIMITS to sleuthing and speculation. Please keep your suspicions to yourself.

WS is VICTIM FRIENDLY. No sleuthing of family members, especially parents and spouses. We give them the benefit of the doubt and the last thing we want to do is re-victimize a grieving loved one.

Theories, opinion, speculation are welcome as long as they are based on FACTS that have been made available through mainstream media (MSM), law enforcement (LE), or other acceptable sources such as scholarly or professional publications.

When you state something as "fact", you must back it up with a link to an approved source. If you can't link it, you can't post it.

10/6/21 Update: Franks Hearing has been rescheduled for 12/2/21 for all cases. A Franks hearing is a proceeding before a judge where a defendant contests the veracity for a search warrant. 11/10/21: The State filed motion to dismiss Schoenhorn's case against the court reporter for not giving him a transcript of the sealed divorce hearing (re psychologist's testimony). 11/27/21 Update: Franks hearing has been rescheduled to 12/3/21 for all cases. Troconis will not be in court. Her appearance has been waived. But her attorney will be there. Jon Schoenhorn & the state are set to go before Judge Gary White in regards to Schoenhorn's motion requesting a Franks hearing.
12/3/21 Update: Attorney Jon Schoenhorn again asked for Troconis' GPS ankle monitoring to be approved, saying she has never once not been in compliance for the past 1.5 years. "So you're saying it's working?" replied Judge White. White denied the request. White did not issue a ruling into whether he will order a hearing at which police will testify about several affidavits which led to Troconis’ arrest. Her attorney called those affidavits a “disgrace” & “unethical.” Prosecutors say the affidavits are substantially true — the only certain error being the number of places Troconis &p Fotis Dulos stopped in Hartford while he dumped trash bags. Affidavits said 30, it was actually 3. They say arguing over those affidavits is a waste of time. Assistant State's Attorney Daniel Cummings argued that precedent is against the charges being dismissed & Schoenhorn has not provided information on what specific evidence should be suppressed. Judge White permitted Schoenhorn on Friday to challenge two of the three arrest warrants issued for Troconis. The second warrant asserts that Troconis was present when Dulos was attempting to sanitize a pickup truck that may have been used in the murder. Schoenhorn also is challenging several police searches of Troconis’ home & possessions. Next hearing on 2/15/22. Judge White denied the request to have the ankle monitor removed, but after the hearing Schoenhorn vowed to keep trying & will likely file another motion about it in the future.
12/13/21: Filed: Third Party Petition to compel disclosure by State's attorney (re Ken Mawhinney). Schoenhorn is seeking Mawhinney's written and/or recorded or videotaped "alleged confessions" in the case, which he made to prosecutors & LE. Additionally, Schoenhorn is seeking any other physical materials & evidence in the relation to those discussions.
12/20/21: On Monday morning, State detectives & their search dogs could be seen gathered in the southwest corner of the “mulch pile” off of Lapham Road & Merritt Expressway adjacent to Waveny Park. The area also is adjacent to a section of Lapham Road where Fotis Dulos parked a pickup truck on the morning of the murder. 1/19/22 Update: Virtual hearing date’s been set (1/24/22) for the court to hear Schoenhorn’s demand to see all of the files in KM’s domestic violence case, to see if he got a deal in exchange for the information he gave the State.
*Kent D. Mawhinney (54/now 56) – Court hearing re disposition (Violation) on 1/24/22 & (Spousal assault) plea hearing on 1/24/22. Murder: Judge John F. Blawie put the case on the trial docket but with no date yet. There is no future court date at the moment, but that will only happen if a new motion is filed or new information arises.
*Fotis Dulos (52) – Committed suicide on 1/28/20 & declared dead at 5:32pm on 1/30/20. 3/3/20: Charges dismissed. The case against Dulos will be officially dismissed in about a year, unless the state decides to reopen it. 1/17/22: After debt, no money left in Dulos estate for children. @MarissaAlter

A virtual hearing on this motion is set for Monday 1/24. Michelle Troconis’ attorney wants a look at the files in Kent Mawhinney’s domestic violence cases to see if Mawhinney cut a deal on those charges in exchange for cooperating in the Jennifer Dulos case.

HAPPENING TODAY: A remote hearing out of Hartford in Kent Mawhinney's domestic violence case. The attorney for Michelle Troconis, his co-defendant in the Jennifer Dulos case, wants to know if he was offered a deal in the dv case to cooperate in the Dulos case.
It comes as the state has said Mawhinney will likely testify against Troconis when she goes to trial.

UPDATE: No ruling by Judge Hope Seeley today. Following arguments, she asked Hartford State’s Attorney Sharmese Walcott to reply “paragraph by paragraph” to Attorney Jon Schoenhorn’s motion on whether she has certain information and/or why it shouldn’t be turned over.

Of note today: Schoenhorn dropping during arguments that during Mawhinney’s intvw with state police, he made multiple misogynistic and racist comments. He says with his client being a Hispanic woman, those comments go to motive

Thank you-this is what I was looking for

My personal opinion is that Mawhinney is a mysogynist, but I don’t necessarily believe that he expressed that to the police. I think Schoenhorn made what is likely a logical leap, and blatantly lied in his request to the judge. Had Schoenhorn actually seen the transcript or heard a recording of the interview KM had with the police?

What do we think of this order from the judge to Prosecutor Walcott? I guess it gives Schoenhorn a starting point to attempt to destroy KM’s credibility. It will likely only work if there is no other evidence that MT was complicit with fD, though. I look at his testimony as the “icing on the cake”, so to speak-something that confirms the other, independently obtained, evidence against her, if they have it.

I liked that the judge is giving the State's Attorney some space in giving Schoenhorn what he wants. Also, the State's Attorney said the motion should have been filed in Stamford Court...Hmmmm. (Schoenhorn won't care...he wants what he wants....)

I had to chuckle when JS indicated he needed the information to prepare for trial. What a joke...he just wants to use it for pre-trial publicity in hopes it never gets to trial.

From the article above....Hartford judge orders prosecutor to respond to Michelle Troconis’ attorney

Schoenhorn contends he has a right to nearly all evidence in the domestic violence cases as he prepares to take his client’s case to trial. “I’m not asking for anything that isn’t being turned over to Mr. Mawhinney’s attorney,” Schoenhorn said.

Walcott told Seeley that she felt Schoenhorn should have filed his motion in Stamford Superior Court where the conspiracy to commit murder cases are proceeding.

But Walcott conceded that by law, Schoenhorn had a right to any documents or indication that a deal had been struck in her cases to gain Mawhinney’s cooperation in the case against Troconis.

“Of course, they should be turned over,” Walcott said.

And, my favorite quote is bolded, because I seriously doubt he's opened much the evidence already given to him....IMO...MOO

@sds71 - so was there a plea on KM's assault case? And anything new on the violation charge? Any "new" hearings for either one?

TIA! :)

I have MT's next hearing on 2/15 re Schoenhorn challenging the searches by police.

I wonder if MT will even be required to appear remotely at all for this next hearing? What is the real inconvenience to her while this goes on and on?
