Dating the Photos

OK, first post on this thread - just noticed it this morning. I feel like I've looked at thousands of pictures today!! One in particular caught my eye in order to try to help narrow down a more precise date.

Here's the pic I used (I couldn't see the year but saw July 4th):

AND then I found this after some crazy google searches:

jly4.1970.jpg

Doesn't look like a July picture to me as everyone is dressed quite warmly so I'm assuming this one is at least fall or so of 1970 into 1971. The sign/flag/banner still could have been used years later I suppose.

ETA: looks like he was on the east coast around then too though it doesn't necessarily have to have been in DC.
Anyhow, now that I got here I'll keep following.

Hey, wow, this guy in this picture on the right has the same picture on the back of his coat. Looks like an iron on patch:

:seeya:
Pics used in the thread and posts are now an Error 404 - is there a new link to pics which mods could refer to, to keep the thread alive? Im not sure which are an appropriate collection or the best ones to link to.
Thanks in advance.

Just to add: I have spent way too long on the vacuum cleaner forum thanks to tatertot :loveyou:

Thanks to the vacuum afficionados at Vacuumland.org, we have an I.D. on the sweeper in this photo: http://cnnnancygrace.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/00123.jpg

It is a Hoover Convertible Special Model 589 in "dusky lavender" and made from 1969 to 1971. Here's the thread if you want to see how they identified it (and as I posted there, I'm beyond impressed.)

Ran the marijuana/peace sign image through Tineye.com and got a hit at the library of congress (img also posted in attachments in case above links/references stop working):

I checked out Alcala's timeline and it turns out he was in NYC in the summer of 1971. Many people from the city would head out to the beaches of Long Island during the summer months.

During that summer a college friend and I hitch hiked to one of those beaches. A young guy who said he was a film student picked us up in a convertible, if I'm remembering correctly. He had a lot of photo equipment in the car leading me to completely believe his story.

He suggested we go further down the beach where it was more remote. Then he gave my friend some money and sent her off to the concession stand, which was quite a distance away. Being young and naive, I let him talk me into walking down towards the water so he could film me. I'm pretty sure I had on some kind of top or t-shirt, but I was wearing only my underwear on the bottom. Looking back, I'm sure he could see right through my white, cotton panties.

Back at the blanket, he rolled on top of me. I hadn't ever had sex at that point and got very scared. I tried embarrassing him- saying that with his looks I was sure he could find someone that actually wanted to have sex with him. I don't remember him actually having a hard on but he seemed to be trying to pretend that he did. Within a few minutes he rolled off.

I can't remember what the guy looked like but I don't remember his hair being as long as Alcala's. Should I contact the NYC police to see if I am in any of the photos they haven't released to the public? Or is this just crazy thinking?
How do you pretend to have a hard on? What does it mean
Did this also turn out to actually be alcala.?
